Kitties, Puppies, and Ribbons-- Oh my!

The Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 25 Anniversary of PAWS Shelter and Humane Society with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 16th. The celebration took place in the beautiful pavilion outside of the PAWS Shelter, located off East FM 150. Kyle residents, Ambassadors, and Chamber members were in attendance to commemorate PAWS' 25 Anniversary.

Mayor Lucy Johnson and Rudy Barnes of Allied Home Mortgage and Kyle Small Business Committee led the ceremony with heart-felt speeches celebrating the PAWS Shelter's commitment to saving animals' lives.

Since 1986 PAWS Shelter and Humane Society has given care to homeless, abandoned, and abused cats and dogs; and aided them in finding their perfect home. As one of the leading no-kill shelters in Central Texas, PAWS works to ensure that all their animals are up-to-date on medical care and are sure to be a wonderful addition to their future families. For more information visit the PAWS Shelter website   at or call (512) 268-1611.

Kyle City Manager Presents Budget Framework to Council

The Kyle City Council got its first look at next year's proposed budget at this week's city council meeting when Kyle City Manager, Lanny Lambert, presented a framework of what the council should expect when budget meetings begin in August.

Most notable in the budget were noticeable increases in property taxes and utility rates needed to balance the budget and reverse the trends of past years when the city used fund balances, or savings accounts, to keep rates low.

The city council will begin budget deliberations in August and will have a budget approved by the end of September. Budget documents will be posted on the City of Kyle web site as soon as they become available.
