Board of Trustees Chairman Steve Guthrie Encourages Teamwork and Advocacy
Board of Trustees Chairman Steve Guthrie welcomed staff back and thanked them for their hard work. He spoke to staff about three things: 1) teamwork, 2) the Strategic Plan and 3) advocacy. He encouraged staff to identify ways they can help each other and work together as a team. He asked staff to advocate for themselves and the district by sharing their successes. And he emphasized the Board's commitment to the Strategic Plan. "It's critical to our success," he said.
Staff Recognized for Years of Service
Assistant Superintendent John Blackman and Student Services Director Debi Gutknecht recognized staff for their years of service. Congratulations to Cindy Aschilman, a teacher at Woodside Elementary celebrating 35 years in Blaine County, and to Ken Mecham a teacher at Carey School who celebrates 40 years.
State Announces Preliminary Five-Star Rating System and Adequate Yearly Progress

"The new STAR rating system incorporates a wider variety of data at the high school level and refocuses the ISAT performance on how well students compete with others across the state. All in all it brings a fresh perspective to school performance and I'm confident Blaine County schools will excel in their ratings as we move into the new system."
