School Calendar: What You Need to Know
ImageAt the regular BCSD Board of Trustee meeting on Tuesday, February 21, the Board approved the start date of the next school year: Tuesday, September 4.  The Board would still like input on early-release/collaboration days and winter vacation. The Board will vote on the full calendar at the March 13 regular meeting and there are three weeks to provide comment.

As of the February 21 Board meeting, the Board received over 100 comments from staff, parents and patrons regarding the calendar, all but two asking the Board to approve a post-Labor Day start to school. The Board took action on the calendar so that the committee could move forward with planning.  The decision was also made with consideration of families and staff who are currently planning their summer.

Comments have been solicited since January 24, 2012 in the BCSD Weekly Update, on the website and through the weekly Coffees with the Community.  "We'd particularly like to thank the staff who reached out to us, keep sending us your input because we need to hear from you," said Board Chair Steve Guthrie at the meeting.
Superintendent and Administrator Contracts Renewed
Image Steve Guthrie, Blaine County School District Board of Trustees Chair, announced that the Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract for Dr. Lonnie Barber as Superintendent of the Blaine County School District. The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to renew the contract following its annual performance evaluation of the Superintendent. The Board also approved contract renewals for all District and school administrators.

"This is a team effort," echo the Superintendent and Board Chair. To learn more about the process, how the Superintendent and Board work together, and why Superintendent Barber credits the teachers with the District's success, READ MORE HERE.
