The Blaine County School District was accepted to the Idaho Leads Project. A team including a student, parent, teacher and administrators attended the inaguaral Idaho Leads Project meeting last week in Boise. Boise State University has created the Idaho Leads Project, a professional development team focused on strengthening leadership capacity in Idaho's K-12 schools. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Author Sean Covey will visit three elementary schools next week as part of The Leader in Me program. Bellevue Elementary, Hemingway Elementary and Woodside Elementary are implementing The Leader in Me, a world-wide program designed to support academic success with character development integrated into the curriculum. The Leader in Me is based on Covey's book, The Seven Habits of Happy Kids. Covey will tour the schools and speak to students. Blaine County is poised to become the first district in the world to implement the program in all of its elementary schools, achieving status as a Lighthouse School District in The Leader in Me program. The Board of Trustees is charged with deciding the school year calendar. Last year the Board of Trustees approved a one-year school calendar, starting school after Labor Day. The Board of Trustees has many factors and stakeholders to consider when looking at a school calendar. Parents and community members will have an opportunity to voice their opinion through public comment at the Board of Trustees meeting on February 21. Public input will be gathered for three weeks after the meeting before the Board of Trustees makes a decision on the calendar.
