BCSD Director of Communications Heather Crocker presented a Communications Plan to the BCSD Board of Trustees in November. The public is invited to comment on the plan prior to the BCSD Board of Trustee meeting next week. Increased community engagement is proven to increase student success, which in turn adds value to the entire community. Ultimately the BCSD believes our schools are stronger when people are well-informed and involved. To view the plan, click here. To comment on the plan, email hcrocker@blaineschools.org or contact any of the Board of Trustees.
Students Need Panelists for Senior Projects
2011 senior Walker Royston and his mentor Eric Thomas work on Walker's hand-built kayak he constructed for his senior project last year.
Senior Projects are a requirement for graduation from high school. Student-driven, independent learning is a capstone to the Blaine County education. Every senior presents their project to panelists, articulating their goals for the project and what they learned, as well as their plans for the future. This year at Wood River High School, Senior Project Day will take place on Thursday, January 19 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. If you are interested in serving as a panelist, please contact Julia Grafft at jgrafft@blaineschools.org or call 578-2215.
Learn about the BCSD Parent Information Center
Funded through a grant from the Blaine County Education Foundation , The Blaine County School District Parent Information Center provides information, resources, and support about disabilities and learning differences to individuals within Blaine County. The Parent Information Center has been busy helping families and school professionals within Blaine County School District. They recently concluded a free class series "1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children ages 2-12" in English and Spanish. This class series was taught by Kelly Choma and Millie Gaitan-Gonzales of Blaine County School District. Families who attended this program learned more about author Dr. Thomas Phelan's practical parenting strategies for increasing positive behavior and decreasing challenging behavior at home. Find out about future programs and new additions to the library here.
