Tuesday, October 4 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wood River Middle School"As Superintendent of Blaine County School District, I invite you to join me at an important event we are co-sponsoring with the Blaine County Drug Coalition and Idaho Drug Free Youth. The event is called i2i - where we will hear from local teens and experts about underage drinking. Our Strategic Plan goals include encouraging healthy social and emotional behavior among students and providing safe and secure classrooms for optimal learning environments. It's critical that we all work together to increase awareness about the effects of drug and alcohol on teens. I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday evening at the middle school. What do parents need to know about the SAT college entrance exam and Advanced Placement classes?
 On Thursday, October 6 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Hailey Public Library parents (and students) are invited to attend a presentation with David Moniz, Director of K-12 Education for The College Board, which administers SAT and AP. In-service days for educators and staff: Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7
 The Blaine County School District will hold professional development for all staff on Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7 as part of the State-required in-service days. Project Based Learning will be the focus of professional development for all staff next Thursday, October 6. Staff will work with their school teams to further their knowledge of Project Based Learning. Project Based Learning is part of the BCSD Strategic Plan, "Our students exhibit BCSD 21st Century Performance Indicators." BCSD 21st Century Performance Indicators help students become critical thinkers, problem solvers and effective communicators. On Friday, October 7, staff will have several professional development options, including training in the new math curriculum, International Baccalaureate (Wood River Middle School), End of Course Exams (Wood River High School), technology, bullying awareness, communication, and more.
