School Board Accolades: Transportation Department makes bus rides part of students' education

Tracy Dawson & Rex Squires were recognized at the September Board Meeting

Rex Squires, Laurie Lindsey, Tracy Dawson, Wendy Wenglikowski and Emma Harmon received accolades at the September School Board meeting. About the transportation department, former Developmental Preschool teacher Cathy Lind wrote, "I have such respect for what you all do and for always keeping me in touch with a part of the day that was so important to our children in the DPS. You made their ride part of their education." FULL STORY.

School Board Special Meeting: Plant Facility Levy Update and Auditorium Remodel Decision 
Image The School Board held a special meeting on Monday, September 19 to review Plant Facility Levy projects done to date, as well as future projects the School Board might consider. A detailed list of proposed projects and budget can be found in the minutes. The School Board also decided unanimously to approve the $1.5 million budget for the auditorium remodel at the Community Campus, thus bringing Blaine County's largest indoor seating venue into the 21st Century. Both topics are part of the BCSD Strategic Plan: Goal #7, We put into practice state-of-the-art technology that provides students and staff with full working and learning capability, Goal #8, Our schools are safe and secure environments that adapt to an ever-changing world, Goal #9, Our facilities, grounds and classrooms promote sustainability and provide for optimal learning. Lunch Buddies Needed

The Lunch Buddy program matches caring adults with children in our public schools. Receiving support from adults in the community is one of 40 Developmental Assets identified by the Search Institute as key to becoming a responsible, caring adult.

The Lunch Buddy program is a great way for the community to connect with children in a meaningful way. Nothing is required other than a weekly commitment to have lunch with a student. Opportunities are available
