Superintendent Barber delivered his annual keynote address to over 500 staff members this week. This is the only time when every staff member comes together at the beginning of the school year to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the District. The Blaine County School District School Board met Tuesday, August 30 for a special session and unanimously approved a Pay for Performance plan. For the minutes of the meeting, click here. Look for more information next week providing further details.

Hemingway Elementary Principal Don Haisley is competing in a fundraiser on September 10th called Battle of the Blades: Ice ... It's Hard. It is sponsored by the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club and involves pairing nine local celebrities, including Principal Haisley, with nine professional ice skaters to compete in a format similar to TV's "Dancing with the Stars."

 

The top three finishers in Battle of the Blades will receive a total of $3,000 to give to their chosen nonprofit. The Club will use any additional proceeds from the event to make the sport of figure skating as accessible to as many children as possible. Principal Haisley has specified that, if he wins, he would like to donate his $2,000 prize to the Hemingway Elementary Publishing House.
