Release number format simplified
Release numbers for Visual Alert software are found in the upper left-hand corner of the application.
The new format is three numbers separated by dots. The first number is the version of Visual Alert. That is followed by the update number or release number. The final number is the build. Example: Visual Alert 2.1.0 is version 2, release 1, and build 0.

| Look for UPDATE every six weeks | |

Lower prices on Visual Alert training
| |
Metro's two new training options are helping clients save money. Prices for live webinar training provided over the Internet and classroom training in our new Visual Alert Training Centerare significantly lower than equivalent training at client sites. At the Visual Alert Training Center in Wayne, PA, groups of six to eight users can escape the distractions of their normal workday and focus on gaining the skills they need. Metro's experts lead participants through hands-on training sessions using networked computers and high-end AV equipment. To schedule training or learn more, email support@metroalert.com

What's new and coming? Find out at User Conferences: March 22 & 30
If your police department is using Visual Alert® software, you don't want to miss your 2011 Metro User Conference. You will see demonstrations of all that's new - and coming soon - to help your department streamline operations, share information with neighboring departments and better deploy resources where they are needed most.
Metro will unveil the next wave of enhancements coming for Visual Alert 2. Attendees will be able to sign up at the conference for a free pre-installation assessment to learn what equipment, if any, needs to be updated to take advantage of VA 2 capabilities.
Attendees will get a sneak peak at VA GIS version 2, to be released next month. The graphical display of data made possible by this state-of-the-art geographic information system provides invaluable new insights for preventing and solving crime.
Metro also will update attendees on the advances being made as various grant-funded projects progress around the state. You'll learn how groups of police organizations like yours have benefited by making a joint grant application.
In addition to these presentations, there will be small group technology sessions and small group discussions.
If you plan to attend a User Conference, register online now or download a pdf registration form to fax, email or mail. Registration forms will not be mailed to users.

Metro participating in BASLE grant projects funded by the PCCD
Metro Technology Services has received word that it is a participant in up to six of the eight BASLE projects funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) in October 2010. BASLE stands for Better Automation and Sharing by Law Enforcement.
Metro had assisted many of the police organizations applying for the grants by providing product specs and estimated costs for software purchases, upgrades and development. The approach that worked for those awarded BASLE grants involved groups of police organizations getting together to make an application under the auspices of one department or the district attorney's office.
Likely areas where Metro will participate in implementing current BASLE projects are York, Delaware, Lebanon, Allegheny, Westmoreland and Northampton Counties. In some cases, the grants are covering part of the cost for police departments to upgrade their equipment and migrate their Visual Alert data from version 1 to version 2.
It is likely that applications will open in May for a new round of BASLE grants to be awarded in fall 2011. For more information, click here. |
