Welcome to the December issue of
Care Connection's monthly newsletter.
The Holiday Season encourages us to reflect on the year that has passed and to give thanks for all our blessings. For me personally, a serious knee injury earlier this year forced me to remain home for an extended period. If not for the loving care of my wife Anne, sons Matt and Luke and many of my wonderful friends, I would not have recovered as quickly. I have been blessed.
The steady growth Care Connection has seen this past year is an affirmation of the fine services that we have provided to all of our clients. I would like to convey my sincerest thanks to all of our clients and their families for their trust, faith and confidence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones this past year.
My special thanks to my office staff at Care Connection for their hard work, diligence and dedication to our company and the clients we serve. If not for you, Care Connection would not have been blessed with continued growth and success.
I would also like to convey my sincerest thanks to all of our colleagues who have referred clients to Care Connection throughout this past year. We will continue to make every effort to provide only the best of companion services to all of your referrals. So, at year's end, we look to the coming year with hope and optimism. Hope for good health to our families and friends and optimism that the fruits of our labor will be as equally kind this coming year as it was the last.
If we can be of assistance now or in the future, please do not hesitate to call our offices, or email us at care1100@aol.com

The Care Connection Office Team
|
Dr. Richard W. Scher founded Care Connection, Inc. in 1998 to focus on the non-medical, safety and emotional concerns of the geriatric population. Having treated seniors for over 30 years, he realized that so many require practical assistance or just need a helping hand to feel safe and secure.
Care Connection specializes in offering non-medical help with day to day tasks in a sensitive and concerned way. Matching and connecting the right caregiver to you or your family member is what we do best.
If you or a loved one is recovering from an illness and need assistance by a qualified companion at home, assisted living facility or hospital for the short or long term, Care Connection will provide you with someone who is loving and trustworthy.

SAMMS - Senior Adult Move Management Services
Your environment dictates how you live.....and most of us live with too much stuff. While we all l o ve our things, too much stuff can be dangerous and unsettling. Whether you are moving to a smaller place or aging in place, downsizing is the first step, and hiring a Senior Move Manager will ensure proper planning and success.
A Senior Move Manager is a professional who specializes in assisting older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of relocation or "aging in place" safely and comfortably. Though many senior move managers have different backgrounds, what they all share, is a professional commitment to connecting with mature adults and a desire to perform meaningful work that enhances their lifestyle.
While SAMMS started out focusing on transitioning seniors to an easier lifestyle with a downsizing move, aging in place, has become the new buzz word. An AARP survey revealed that close to 3 out of 4 seniors perfer to age in place. Knowing that 2011 was the beginning of boomers turning 65....all 78 million of them, it is a service that should not be overlooked. Aging in place in a safe carefree environment is essential for safety and peace of mind and it all takes planning.
Adapting the environment in order to make performing tasks easier, reduce accidents, and support independent living is the end goal. This is done by de-cluttering, clearing pathways of furniture, loose rugs, cords, or any tripping hazards, organizing and finally coordinating necessary fixes and installments for safety.
Walkers, wheel chairs, oxygen tanks etc.; all need to be worked in to their environment. We will create a feeling of calm, control and safety. You will enjoy the ease of a lifestyle in a scaled down, well ordered home, which is a key component to your overall health and wellness program.

Social Connection
Senior Move Management can help with the following Age in Place needs:
- Developing an overall "age in place" plan
- Room by room space planning
- Organizing, sorting and downsizing
- Arranging for the profitable disposal of unwanted items through auction, estate sale, buyout, consignment, donation, or a combination of the above
- Interviewing, scheduling and overseeing home modification professionals
- Arranging shipments and storage
What are the real benefits of Senior Move Management services?
- Certified professionals, who are specifically trained to be aware of any additional professional services needed, and to be sensitive, and patient to all the changes that older adults endure
- Senior Move Managers have expertise in resources and approaches that save money, reduce stress, and produce quality results
- Services are client-centered and personalized to meet the client's needs and preferences. Families, particularly, should never doubt the power of an outside expert!
Now that the physical environment has been adapted, we must remember the importance of socializing, proper nutrition and receiving help with some everyday tasks to complete the picture. A home health care provided will meet those needs.

Consider companion care for your loved one!
