Greetings!
At this time of year we often take a step back to give thanks for the people that make a difference in our worlds and in our lives.
I want you to know about one of the most amazing women I have had the pleasure to work with over the last five years. For those of you that have had the opportunity to meet Michele Wheeler you already know she is smart, tough and wickedly funny. She has taken the Bad River Watershed Association from an all volunteer organization to a staff of three in just a few years. BRWA is well known for its water quality monitoring and culvert assessment programs, but it is their science-based, diplomatic, and community oriented approach that has made them a respected voice in the discussion about the potential Penokee mine. This is because of the relationships Michele has built over the last few years and just because of the type of person she is. She listens, she is sincere, and she is honest.
Michele and BRWA are always examples I share when river groups are in need of hearing a success story. I am hoping you can help Michele have her next success story.
This fall Michele was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is taking this disease on with her trademark wit and strength. However, she is in need of financial assistance. If you are able to make a donation to support Michele and her family please consider the options below.
Have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving,
Than Allison Werner Local Groups Program Manager |
