Greetings!
It will come as no surprise that wetlands, the  bane of the developers' existence, are under attack by an administration that has ensconced a home builder as head of the agency charged with protecting those troublesome marshes and meadows.  True to form, the Rat has deconstructed the (admittedly clever) fashion in which our new governor plans to "lend a helping hand" to a "friend" in need of a little infilling.  The situation is evolving rapidly, but for a bit of background, read the Rat.

River Alliance Launches Brand-Spanking New Website!

Sometime during the late 1990's the River Alliance had this really cool idea: "Why don't we get on the Internet?!" So we hitched up our digital wagon and pulled onto the information superhighway.  We picked up a lot of extra luggage along the way and eventually our website started to resemble the Clampett family jalopy.

Finally, it was time to trade the old gal in and launch a new model.  It may not be fully-loaded, but it is certainly more fuel-efficient ("fuel" being the time and mental frustration required to maintain the site) and a lot easier on the eyes.  So hop in and get a whiff of that "new site" smell!

An Ice Fishing Tale
Voyageur donor Keith Nelson is one of the River Alliance's best friends and members.  The following excerpt is from a story Keith shared with us about his day on the ice with Hudson's on the Spot, a fishing guide service in Bayfield.  Keith placed the winning bid for the trip in the annual River Alliance annual online auction and came away with an experience any proper Northwoods(wo)man can appreciate.

"
The last time I'd done any ice fishing was more than a dozen years ago, when I helped with my now-grown son's Boy Scout outing. A full-scale guided fishing trip to the Chequamegon area was a great excuse for a winter Wisconsin road trip..."

What kind of fish did Keith catch? Read on to find out!>>
