$250,000 Innovation Grant for Science
Innovation Grant

Innovation Grant presentation

Kenston received a $250,000 federal Race to the Top Innovation Grant for solar energy and science education.

The new grant will fund the district's plan to install a 20-kilowatt solar photovoltaic array, which is a system of solar panels that convert sunlight to electricity.  Smaller arrays will be installed for real time data evaluation, hands-on demonstration and as a clean energy resource for heating water.

Dr Lee said, "This grant enhances the district's efforts to Go Green.  It is a great component to our renewable energy plan.  Beyond the direct educational benefits of this grant, it will help to offset existing utility costs."
