Compliance Alert!!!

The 2011 Department of Conservation annual reports are due July 1, 2012.  The report form has been changed for the most current year and is requiring the submittal of a USGS quad map with the location of your reclamation plan identified. ("2011 Annual Report Instructions and Fee Schedule, Item #10")and this is in blue because it has a hotlink to the website below. This requirement is the result of SB110, which dictates that the location of all mining operations be available to the public.  Reacting to this legislation, OMR petitioned the SMGB to revise the report format, which also includes the mapping requirement.

EnviroMINE has advanced GIS capabilities and can quickly and economically produce location maps for your mining operations annual report submittal.  Damien Galford can assist you with this task.  Call or email Damien at (916) 375-3018 or damien@enviromineinc.com.

Visual Studies; a glimpse into the future.

By Terry Kinsman

Surface mining operations (and subsequent reclamation) change the visual landscape. Visualizing these changes can be difficult to comprehend and as a result, are the subjectNSSGA Award of concerns addressed in the environmental review process for mining projects. However, with the improvements in technology and advances in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), it is possible to accurately portray how mineral extraction and reclamation activities will affect the landscape before a shovel hits the ground. Through the use of the technologies mentioned above, a Visual Study can be produced to illustrate the potential changes in the landscape...more.
