BookEnds Brentwood Community BookDrive
The month of May will see an unprecented community effort in Brentwood to collect children's books for City Year. City Year corps members will deliver these books directly into the hands of underserved students throughout Los Angeles.
Please come out and help us sort and celebrate with your family and friends on May 20th from 10am to 2pm at the corner of San Vicente and Montana. Don't have books? Powered by our student volunteers, every $1 donated to BookEnds results in $5 worth of children's books to fill empty classroom libraries. |
Miracles at Mychal's
BookEnds is working with an extraordinary group of individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of others. Mychal's Learning Place is a center for children and adults with developmental disabilities to learn independent life skills. Over 40 eager Mychal's volunteers greeted Gretchen, BookEnds Program Manager, with 1,500 books. Many smiling faces lugged artfully decorated book collection boxes to sort the books into grade level. A few volunteers shared their excitement for reading with stories of their favorite fantasy novels, tales from thrilling basketball biographies, and characters from their own pieces of writing in development. We all were thrilled in knowing their simple efforts will bring joy and effect the lives of others less fortunate.

---------------------------------------------------------
BookEnds student volunteers organize book drives in their schools to recycle their quality children's books directly into the hands of kids in schools and youth organizations in desperate need of books. Through this process, BookEnds creates readers and leaders.
