Dear ,

This morning, I watched a news story entitled State Agency Warns Storm Victims of Bad Insurance Deals. We extend to all homeowners who have suffered a personal loss our most heartfelt prayers. Whenever a tragedy of this magnitude occurs, it is important the residence have the best information to get their lives back together as quickly as they possibly can. Public Adjusters are licensed professionals, as indicated by Mr. Mark Terry that can help homeowners when situations like this occur.

Please note that I must respond to the comments that were made on that station as well as the news story that appeared on their web page, which warned people about public adjusters. We appreciate the comment from Mr. Mark Terry who indicated that "not all public adjusters are bad". However, I can also state that "not all insurance companies are bad either". The public does, however, need to be aware that when the insurance company adjuster visits with the policyholder, they are there not representing the policyholder but the "insurance company". My comment here, "not all insurance company adjusters are bad", represents that there are some very good company adjusters, but the public must be warned that their immediate responsibility is to the insurance company and not the policyholder. I know from personal experiences how difficult it is to resolve a property claim loss. If the policyholder does not have an adequate understanding of the complicated Declaration Page of their homeowners or business owners policy, they will be in for a very difficult time in resolving their property loss claim.

I am sharing with you an article that was written in 2010 entitled, OPPAGA - Office of Program Policy Analysis & Governmental Accountability, Office of the Florida Legislature. This article clearly indicates the need for public adjusters in that when a policyholder utilized the professional services of a public adjuster, there was a difference in settlement of 574%. The report clearly indicates that when a policyholder did not utilize a public adjuster, they were much more likely to receive a far less settlement.

Let me also share a link to a book by the distinguished professor ofRutgersLawSchool, Jay M. Feinman entitled, Delay, Deny, Defend, Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About it.

Finally, I am sharing a recent interview on The Value of a Public Adjuster.

Homeowners trying to get their lives back in order for their families can then have the advocacy of a professional public adjuster who can handle all of the details allowing them to rebuild their lives free from the added stress of dealing with insurance companies who, as I stated, represent the insurance company and not the policyholder.

Sincerely,

GeneVeno
