Chairman's Corner
  Fred Yebra- TXSES Chairman
  March 2011

As the new Chair of the Texas Solar Energy Society, I am grateful and proud to accept this position. All of us at the TXSES Board of Directors are enthusiastic to serve our membership and local chapters throughout the great state of Texas.

As I prepare to write this note to our membership, I cannot help but make reference to some major events that highlight the need to transition our fossil-fuel economy to a cleaner and more efficient future. Read more

Executive Director's Corner

   Natalie Marquis-TXSES Executive Director

   March 2011

Please join me in a huge thank you to our friends at EarthShare of Texas and H-E-B stores throughout the state for our largest donation to date from last year's 2010 April tearpad campaign.

This important and valuable fundraiser begins again this year on April 1st and runs the entire month. H-E-B celebrates Earth Day every day in April and we can raise money by asking our family, friends and colleagues to tear off a square and donate at the H-E-B checkout counter.  Read more

Some committees have already held public hearing and gathered testimony on certain bills but as of this writing, no bills have passed out of committee to the floor of either chamber for possible debate and vote.         Tell Them You Support Solar

By Natalie Marquis

As Michael Albrecht's article above points out, there are a number of bills proposed which have to do with issues near and dear to our hearts:  statewide solar energy rebates, netmetering, disallowing Home Owners Associations (HOAs) from prohibiting solar installations and more. He gives instructions for following these bills as they wind their way through committee and hopefully onto the floor of the House and Senate.Read more
