  QUESTION:

Great question! And one I'm hearing from many of my clients. They're telling me they feel stuck in a rut when it comes to creating abundance. They want to create the prosperity they've heard about in the movie, "The Secret." They know about the "Law of Attraction." They've practiced their affirmations, but still... not enough money. I talked about this a lot in a teleclass I taught last year, "How to Become an Abundance Magnet" I've struggled with this idea a lot in the past. In my twenties I was virtually homeless for a while. It was very scary! It also made me study all the prosperity ideas out there with great sincerity. I believe that one of the missing ingredients is often a small dose of courage to help catapult you into the new life you dream about. My sense is that you're very close to attracting the abundance you desire. Read on and I'll give you some clues:

Just Begin - Perhaps you've gone to a career counselor, taken a personality test and read innumerable self-help books and you still haven't identified your "purpose in life" or "life mission." You may be thinking too big and allowing yourself to feel overwhelmed. The quest for a joy-filled and prosperous life usually begins in fits and starts. Begin today to commit to making life a fun adventure rather than a search for deep meaning and hard cash. What are two new things you can do this week that are Fun; Outside the norm; and Require a little courage? You'll likely discover, as many have, that as you do more of what you love both the larger purpose and the prosperity begin to flow into your life.

Build Your Courage Muscles - You know that you have to make a change in your life. Your finances are getting worse and you're feeling stuck in a dead end job. Why can't you seem to make a fresh start? The excuse I've heard from many clients is "I'm scared." It would be wonderful if there were a "courage fairy" that could wave her magic wand and give you some of that precious commodity, but it probably isn't going to happen. Singer and speaker Jana Stanfield asks a wonderful question: "What would you do today if you were brave?" Developing courage is like building a muscle. The more you work at it and practice it, the stronger it gets. What are two things you've been telling yourself that you "should" do and yet haven't done because doing them makes you a little uncomfortable? Get out a package of post-it notes, write those two things down, choose a deadline and do them! You'll feel so much better when they're done. Plus, your courage muscles will be stronger!

I'm enjoying reading "The Prosperity Plan: Ten Steps to Beating the Odds and Discovering Greater Wealth and Happiness Than You Ever Thought Possible" by Laura Berman Fortgang. It delivers what the book cover states: "The Prosperity Plan offers a simple and clear approach to building financial and emotional security. According to Fortgang, in order to obtain wealth and happiness we need to become receptive to all that the world has in store for us. We must build lives outside of the "norm," always reaching for our own unique good versus some cookie-cutter version of what we thought our lives "should" or "could" be.
