Welcome

I just returned from Las Vegas (my first time there!) where I gave a talk to the International Coach Federation on "Intuition: The Coaches' Edge." What a wonderful group of people!

Later this month, I'll be leaving for my annual trip to Japan. I'll be sure to keep you updated with photos and intuitive musings from Tokyo on my Facebook page. If you're not yet a "fan," please check it out at www.facebook.com/lynnarobinson.

As a further nudge to "like" the page, we're offering a chance to win a free half-hour intuitive reading with me. You're entered just by clicking on the Promos tab on my Facebook Page and answering the question, "What technique have you found helpful when you are looking for guidance?" The winner will be announced on October 17th. Good luck!

If you've been a newsletter subscriber for awhile, you know that we have a new "Ask Lynn" feature. You can ask me a question in a private forum and I'll choose at least one of the questions to answer each month in this newsletter. This month "Sarah" wrote "I lost my job. How can intuition guide me to a new one?" To read my answer go to #3 below.

You can submit your questions for the "Ask Lynn" feature also on my Facebook Page. Even if your question doesn't get picked, I'm sure you'll find that others often have questions similar to your own - and that you'll find my advice helpful each and every month.

I'm truly looking forward to reading and answering your questions!

Wisdom Quotes

"Intuition does not reside in the mind. Intuition resides in the psyche and in the soul."

- Neale Donald Walsch

"Often you have to rely on intuition."

- Bill Gates

"First, every innovation and great fortune begins as a simple thought. Often it begins as just a whiff of thought, a glimmer or an intuition, a simple, 'I wonder what would happen if....'"

- Philip Humbert

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

- Steve Jobs

"Ask Lynn"  What to do When You Lose Your Job

QUESTION:

I got laid off in August after being in the same job for eight years. At first I was excited. I imagined I'd have the time to finally figure out what I really wanted to do with the rest of my life. Now I'm just finding I'm scared, stuck and feeling rather paralyzed. How can I move on? How can intuition help me in this situation?

- "Sarah"

Dear Sarah:

Thanks so much for submitting your question. First of all, what you're experiencing is very common! In the beginning, having all that free time and flexibility can feel intoxicating. You can catch up on your sleep, visit friends, write in your journal, go for walks and generally partake in all the fun things that are difficult to find time for when you're working full-time.

Usually after the first few weeks, the honeymoon period ends. That's when reality sets in. There's the fear about money. The anxiety about am I too old/young, under/over educated? What is the job market like? Ugh! How do I even begin to find something new? And dear God, what do I even WANT to do? It's hard to not feel overwhelmed. Or, as you put it, "scared, stuck and paralyzed." Clearly the final answer is not to pull the proverbial cover over your eyes and go back to sleep! Intuition can give you some important clues and next steps.

Here are six tips that will help you on your path:

Embrace the Change
Think about the possibility that this layoff can bring you to something new and wonderful. What would be the best possible outcome for you? It's all too easy to get caught up in regrets and fears. Try this: grab a piece of paper and pen and begin to brainstorm, asking the question, "Wouldn't it be great if..." Fill in the blank with everything wonderful that you can imagine. When you accept the fact that you've lost your job and allow for the possibility that good things are coming, you open your mind to abundance, good ideas, creativity, intuition AND a terrific new job!

Know That Tough Times Never Last
As actor Mickey Rooney put it, "You always pass failure on your way to success." When you are experiencing a setback you fear you'll be in it forever. However, generally speaking, most of life's painful disappointments are relatively short-lived. It's important to remember that we all experience setbacks at one time or another in our lives. While you may wish otherwise, these situations are difficult. They require that we face our deepest fears of inadequacy, lack and failure. It's often during these difficult times that we turn to God and deepen our faith and spiritual connection. Author Paul Brunton states it this way, "When every situation which life can offer is turned to the profit of spiritual growth, no situation can really be a bad one."

Trust Your Inner Wisdom
Our intuition is connected to a wiser part of us that sees the larger picture of our lives and knows what we need to learn in order to move ahead on our journey in this life. Patience, trust and faith are required after life hands us an unexpected blow. You were not sent here to fail. It may be hard to trust that the Universe knows what it's doing and yet that may be the path of least resistance. You need to go with the flow and know that there is a new and wonderful life for you just waiting to be born.

Take Small Steps Everyday
As your question indicated, it's all too easy to get paralyzed and stuck when you're out of work. One way to avoid overwhelm is to begin your day with a meditation or centering prayer. At the end of your reflection time, ask within, "What could I do today to help me attract the perfect job?" Pay attention to any words, flashes of insight, symbolic pictures, or hunches. Those are all ways that your intuition communicates. If an idea feels exciting, interesting or has some energy to it, take action! Those are intuitively guided action steps.

Read the rest of the tips go to "Ask Lynn". Also, as a special bonus, you'll find additional advice for "Sarah" from our Facebook group.
