Congratulations to 2012 Byrnwyck Seniors!
Chris Coheley

Chris Coheley, son of Mel and Debra Coheley of Downing Lane, graduated with honors from St. Pius X Catholic High School.   While at St. Pius, Chris played Varsity Basketball and received the Emory Parr Achievement Award.  He was also a member of the newspaper staff, National Honor Society and was part of the Lion Leader mentoring program.   Chris has also worked as a student sports writer for the Dunwoody Crier for the last two years.  He will attend the University of Georgia in the fall.

 

Nathan Daniel
Nathan Daniel

Nathan Daniel, son of George and Alice Daniel of Byrnwyck Trail, is graduating from Marist, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honor society, and the National Latin Honor Society as well as being a National Merit Scholar candidate. Nathan received early acceptance from Georgia Tech where he plans to study electrical engineering. He was awarded Most Improved Athlete, and Most Valued Male Athlete in Track & Field, winning the regional competition two years in a row and recently set a new record in boy's pole vault at Marist of 15 feet. He placed second in state pole vault competition and will be on Tech's varsity pole vault team this fall.

Megan Guenther
Megan Gunther
Megan Guenther, daughter of Stu and Molly Guenther of Byrnwyck Road, is graduating from Marist School, where she competed and earned varsity letters in Cross Country, Swimming and Track and Field. She served as a Captain of the Cross Country team during her senior year.  Megan is a member of the National Honor Society and also served on the Athletic Director's Senior Athletic Council.  Megan enjoys coaching Byrnwyck Swim Team during the summers and last summer also interned at Metro Atlanta Gastroenterology.  She will attend Georgia Tech next year, majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
Amanda Harris
Cropped AmandaAmanda Harris, daughter of Dr. Paul and Amy Harris of Byrnwyck Road, will graduate Cum Laude from The Westminster Schools in the top 5% of her grade. She will attend Washington University in St. Louis as a John B. Ervin Scholar. At this time, she plans to study neuroscience. She has also received the AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report for Georgia, The Congressional Gold Medal, Best Buy Scholarship, selected Atlanta INtown Paper's 20 under 20,  Stand Out Student for the Atlanta Reporter Newspaper,  AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society and is a semi-finalist for the Lowes Scholarship. Amanda was Secretary and Treasure of her grade, a peer leader and a leader of Spectrum, a diversity club. She was performed and danced in theatre and served as the Dance Captain for the shows. In addition, she created the organization Wear then Share to brighten the lives of underprivileged kids through dance.
Gill Hutt

Gill Hutt, son of Moira Speirs of Byrnwyck Road, is graduating from the Galloway School where he recently received the Dan Woolley Award for a senior who 'exemplifies their love of Galloway and by their deeds of "Kindness in spirit." He is looking forward to a busy and productive summer working with Deloitte, traveling in Europe and serving on a mission trip to New Orleans.  Once all of that is done, he will be getting ready to drive up to Madison, New Jersey to start his college career at Fairliegh Dickinson.
Ian Kirchner
Ian Kirchner

Ian Douglas Kirchner, son of Dr. Kevin Kirchner and Angela Weiss of Byrnwyck Court, will graduate from Marist and attend Wake Forest University this fall.  A 4-year varsity letter winner for the wrestling team, Ian was named Scholar Athlete.  He also earned varsity letters in cross country and track. He played trumpet in Wind Ensemble and was Co-reviews Editor for the Blue and Gold student newspaper.  Ian represented Marist in the HOBY Youth Leadership Program, American Legion Georgia Boys' State, Youth Leadership Dekalb, and Youth Leadership Dekalb Intern. Ian received National Merit Scholar Commendation, AP Scholar Award, and the Georgetown Book Award. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Delta Epsilon Phi German Honor Society.  He served as class vice president, student council representative, on the Eucharistic Minister Board, and as a student retreat leader. He participated in two school-sponsored mission trips to Nicaragua.  A member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Ian was an Altar Server Captain and currently serves as a lector and Eucharistic minister.  An aspiring DJ, he recently performed at the school's Sadie Hawkins dance and looks forward to honing his skills and booking more gigs!

Jessica Love
Jessica Love

Jessica Love is the daughter of Kelly Love of Byrnwyck Court.  Jessica is graduating with honors from Chamblee Charter High School.  Jessica has participated on the volleyball and swim teams at Chamblee while taking AP courses.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in biology next fall at Georgia State University.  To celebrate Jessica's graduation, her family plans to travel to Spain, Italy and France this summer.

John Peaden

John Peaden, son of Tim and Meg Peaden of Byrnwyck Way, will attend Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina.  John has been active in competitive swimming at Dynamo, as well as high school swimming, cross country, and track. He spent his first two years of high school at Chamblee High School where he won 2nd place in DeKalb County for the 500 Freestyle, as well as qualifying for the state high school meet in his freshman and sophomore years and finishing in the top 20. He transferred to TCS in 11th grade.  At TCS, John was All-Region in cross country and qualified for the state meet in his junior and senior years.  During his final semester, he has been busy as a culinary intern at Double Zero Napoletana in Sandy Springs.  He will study Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in the fall. 

Sydney Proctor
Sydney ProctorSydney Proctor, daughter of James and Teri Proctor of Byrnwyck Road, is a graduate of the Atlanta International School. Sydney will be attending University of Georgia in the fall with hopes to pursue a degree in journalism. During her high school years at AIS, Sydney served as editor of her school newspaper and was selected to be a reporter for TEDX. Sydney also writes for VOX, a local newspaper for teens. Sydney played soccer for AIS, won the coaches award and served as captain of the team. 
Cynthia Sullivan
Cynthia Sullivan, daughter of Terry and Kathy Sullivan of Fernway Court,  graduated from Tallulah Falls School where she has achieved recognition in the National Honor Society.  She played basketball and also competed in both regional and state track finals.  Cynthia placed fourth in the National Equestrian competition in Ohio then assisted other young girls as a counselor at Sunburst Stables.  She was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and will attend Piedmont College pursuing a nursing degree.
 
Gregory Sullivan 
Gregory SullivanGregory Sullivan, Cynthia's twin and also son of Terry and Kathy Sullivan, graduated from Holy Innocents Episcopal School and has lived his entire life in Byrnwyck.  He distinguished himself at HIES as a Vice President of Student Council.  He was an annual counselor at Camp High Harbor.  He led several youth mission trips at Peachtree Road Methodist Church to Nicaragua and in the United States.  He wrestled in high school and also set the school record in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.  He has accepted an offer to attend The University of Auburn.
Michael Usdan
Michael Usdan
 Michael Usdan, son of Bill and Susan Usdan of Byrnwyck Road, is graduating from Weber High School where he has been Co-captain of the Varsity Basketball team and won the Coach's award for the past three years.  Michael has served on Weber's Peer Leader Executive Board and was chosen by Weber's faculty to be the sole recipient of the Hadassah Chesed Award.  Next year Michael will be participating in the Young Judea Year Course in Israel and the following year he will be attending Indiana University.
Neighborhood update

What an impressive  group of graduates we have.  Most of these young people have grown up in Byrnwyck and it is a joy to see them enjoy so much success.  A big congratulations to the parents for a job well-done.
