COFFEE QUIZ

WIN a FREE pound of Java!

question

CONGRATULATIONS to

Janine S. from Golden, CO

for winning  last month's

Coffee Quiz!

Janine says, "I'm a long time Denver native currently living in Golden. I don't remember when I started coming to VR; it was years ago as a friend and I would meet up at the Garrison shop.  I don't even know where to start with what is my favorite item in the store. First of all, the store as a whole just has a good feel to it and there is a energy that invites you to linger and make yourself at home. Although I pretty much have a preference for plain ol' coffee, I can't resist exploring the variety of flavored coffees and teas you offer, never to be disappointed. Furthermore I'm a shopper. scoping out the wares is part of the fun of coming into the VR and in all likelihood I'm walking out with fun gift or two. To end, I love that the VR is an independently owned coffee shop. Well done!

Very well done."

Thanks Janine for your kind words!

This month's quiz:

In what year did the Village Roaster open its doors for business and begin roasting coffees from around the world right here in Lakewood.  To double your chances in the quiz, tell me what month.  To triple your chances in the quiz, tell me what day. If you don't know the answer, ask an employee!

All correct answers will be put into a drawing, and we'll notify the winner by email.  The winner will be announced in our April newsletter.  All entries must be received by Sunday 03/13/11, 5pm MT. Send your answers to Jeff Curtis

Please put "Coffee Quiz" in the subject line - thanks for playing!

This month's recommendations take us back to our roots:  fine coffee, tea and spice.  If you want to venture out and try some new tastes, we recommend the following:

Our shade grown Ethiopian coffee.  These beans are produced high in the mountains, where water is available at harvest and the coffee cherries can be washed in water rather than being sun dried like most Ethiopian coffees. The result is a much cleaner finish and we are fortunate to have a good supply of this very rare, shade grown coffee.

 oolong

Secondly, "you asked for it, we listened"!  Because of your requests, we now carry the Imperial Republic Monkey Picked Oolong Full Leaf Tea.  Dynasties ago, trained monkeys would pluck the best tea leaves from the highest branches of the tea bushes. This tea has a floral hint with a unique peach note and a rich, toasty finish.

grains
Finally, we are very excited about our new spice:  Grains of Paradise.  This spice has a zesty flavor and is similar to pepper with hints of flower, coriander and cinnamon.
