PRESIDENT GRACE SEARS HAS CALLED FOR A TRIENNIAL SERVICE PROJECT!

LIVING OUT OUR VOW OF SERVICE...

It's very simple, and will not take up much room in your luggage. The Julian Center is nonprofit agency providing counseling, safe shelter and education for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises in the Diocese of Indianapolis. It grew from a referral center to trauma therapy to the largest residential facility in Indiana for domestic violence survivors.

Please consider bringing one or more of the following new items for the women and children who reside at the Center: women's socks or underwear, children's socks or underwear, combs and brushes, African American hair care products, bows and barrettes for girls, washcloths, disposable razors, sippy cups, and books for children and young adults (new or gently used). There will be a collection site at Triennial. THANK YOU!

PHOTOGRAPHER ON SITE FOR TRIENNIAL

A professional photographer will be available during Triennial, starting Wednesday, June 27 for Province dinners, through Sunday morning Eucharist.  There will be a sign up at Registration for individuals, small group and large group photos.  Great opportunity to capture new friends, chapter, diocesan, and even province groups! For details, contact Susan O'Brien, Province V President..

Through these last three years,we have been working on getting our registered trademark on our literature.  As things have come up for reprint the change has been made.
Many chapters, and diocesan assemblies have their own websites.  If you have a website, please make sure that you are using the correct logo.  If you are not sure if you have the correct logo, please contact your province president.
Also, any diocesan assembly that has their own website, we would appreciate it if you would send the link to dok1885@doknational.org so we may include your link on the National DOK website.

Our Chaplains

Chaplain's CrossAll Daughters of the King groups whether they are a chapter, a diocesan assembly or a province should have a chaplain. Most of us ask our parish priest to be our chaplain, which is wonderful, but it then gives him/her one more thing to do.
When my chapter was formed that was exactly what we did. Through the years I have thought about this and began to realize that, we could use retired clergy to be our chaplain. So, our chapter got permission from our parish priest to have a retired clergy as our chaplain. This arrangement has been really good. Their schedule is much more flexible, and they do not get called away to tend to church business. I think this is the best of both worlds. We have a chaplain and have not added to the workload of our parish priest.
When I became province president, I wanted to follow the same model as my chapter. So, I went to my bishop and asked him for a list of retired clergy living in the diocese. I contacted the first person on the list and she became our province chaplain.
I would really encourage you to investigate this model of using retired clergy.

 Prayer Partners

Praying HandsTriennial 2012 is fast approaching, and with it comes the election of your new National Board of Officers. As I will not be standing this year, I would like to thank you for the gift of serving as your Prayer Partner Coordinator for the last year and a half.

Prayer Partners is a wonderful ministry which weaves together, with God's loving grace and in His time, a United States Daughter's chapter with an overseas' Daughter's chapter.  Their prayers for and communications with one another across lands and seas creates fellowship and a profound realization of how we are as one, sisters in the Living Body of Jesus Christ.

Senior and Junior Daughters' chapters have been Prayer Partnered in countries as diverse as Haiti, Brazil, Honduras, India, and Malawi.  There are US Daughters chapters that are praying for overseas Daughters in Formation, who prayerfully will, one day, become their Prayer Partners.  And, there are Daughters at Large who have been Prayer Partnered with Daughters at Large overseas.

Now, the newest good news about Prayer Partners is that the Lord is at work helping us get organized with Prayer Partnering Daughters at Large with one another within the United States.  The Daughters' at Large longing for fellowship and the profound realization of how they are as one, all sisters in the Living Body of Jesus Christ, is exactly what Prayer Partners is all about!  And the Lord is opening this door!  Thanks be to God!

Please keep your eyes open for an article in an upcoming Royal Cross detailing how Prayer Partnering Daughters at Large in the United States will be accomplished.  In the meantime, if you are a DAL and are called to become a Prayer Partner, please send me your name, email and home address, plus your church's name and its address.

In the midst of these days of Eastertide our hearts sing with joy and gratitude for the profound gift of life through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Prayer Partners is sharing that joy, gratitude and love with another ... sisters in Jesus.  Thanks be to God!
