Summer Success!August 2011

In times like these, we all need a little Good News.  Here it is, in the form of a B-SAFE* program update!

Just six weeks ago, our 190 B-SAFE summer program staff (including 100 teens) met at Epiphany School for training week.  At the end of that week, site teams dispersed to our six B-SAFE locations in Chelsea, Dorchester (two sites), Mattapan, Roxbury, and the South End.  July 5th was opening day, and since then 300 elementary school and 150 middle school children have spent safe summers in nurturing communities learning and growing and having fun.  More than 900 volunteers, many from our 50 Episcopal partner churches, made week-long commitments to join in these B-SAFE communiites.

The B-SAFE program in the city wrapped up last Friday, and this week 100 of our older children are spending the week at the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center in Greenfield, New Hampshire.  We hope you enjoy the snapshots of B-SAFE 2011 below and share our pride in all that we have accomplished together.  Thank you for helping make this twelfth summer of B-SAFE a success!
