A Hogwarts Halloween for Kidsto benefit the Blackstone Library
Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30 at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Blackstone Library will be transfigured into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on Halloween weekend! Drop your child off for two hours of exciting activities. Attend classes in Potions, Diviniation, and Charms. Visit Ollivander's Wand Shop. Play games and try out some wizard crafts. Costumes encouraged! For children ages 6 and up. $25/person and reservations are required. Reservations at www.BlackstoneHalloween.org

Patrons, Potions, and Provisions Gala for Adults to benefit the Blackstone Library
Saturday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m.
Enjoy a night of wizardry potions, sumptuous provisions, and magical surprises at a just-for-grown-ups night at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Music and silent auction are being arranged by the spirits. Come in your best Hogwarts robes, most creative Wizardly wardrobe, or your favorite Muggle get-up and enjoy a wandering feast, sinful spells, and deadly company. $125/person and reservations are required. Gilbert and Sullivan Program

The Connecticut Gilbert & Sullivan Society presents "Gilbert & Sullivan" at the James Blackstone Memorial Library. The show features excerpts from shows by Gilbert and Sullivan, with musical accompaniment by Dr. John Dreslin, and narrated by Don Shirer.

The Blackstone Library will be closed on Sunday, October 9 and Monday, October 10 in observance of Columbus Day. We will also be closed on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 for A Hogwart's Halloween event to benefit the Blackstone Library.

Menunkatuck Audubon:Warblers of Eastern North AmericaWednesday, October 12 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Menunkatuck Audubon's October meeting will feature Warblers of Eastern North America with birder and photographer, Sam Fried.
Sam's newest program will take us on a journey through warbler land, with a close look at all 38 species of eastern wood warblers. We'll explore life histories, migration routes, wintering grounds and breeding locations throughout the western hemisphere. This will be a fun and fascinating look at these colorful jewels of the birding kingdom, with helpful hints on identification.
Sam is co-founder of Flights of Fancy Adventures, Inc., a birding, photography, and natural history travel company.

Phil Rosenthal is a nationally renowned singer, songwriter, recording artist, and record producer. For many years the lead singer and guitarist in the popular bluegrass group The Seldom Scene. He is also highly respected for his instrumental skills on the banjo and mandolin.

Friends of the Blackstone Present:Connecticut in the American Civil WarWednesday, October 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Join Matt Warshauer, Professor of History at Central Connecticut State University, as he gives a talk on Connecticut in the American Civil War. He will discuss Connecticut's reaction to the firing on Fort Sumner, the dissent over Connecticut's support of the Union, the raising of troops, and the sacrifice of those who served at the front and at home.
