Greetings!
You are invited to join us for a
Volunteer Orientation Session and coffee!
Thursday, October 7, 2010
9:00 - 11:00 am
Desert Foothills Land Trust Office
7518 E. Elbow Bend, Ste. B-6 (map)
Carefree, AZ 85377
Please RSVP to Mary Warren at mwarren@dflt.org by Oct. 5 so that we have enough materials (and snacks!) prepared
We will share information about Desert Foothills Land Trust and our volunteer opportunities, including everything from assistance in the office to workdays at our beautiful preserves. This is a great review for current volunteers, and a great overview for those considering volunteering. Volunteering is a wonderful way to become more involved in the Land Trust's important land conservation work, right here in your community.
Additionally, for those particularly interested in our land stewardship and management activities, we are offering our in-depth
Steward and Docent Training
every Thursday, 9:00 am - Noon
from October 14 through November 11
Space is limited and reservations are required
Steward and Docent Training classes will cover natural history, geology, invasive species and other topics related to our preserve management and outreach activities. Stewards and Docents must complete all five courses, plus the volunteer orientation session. Upon completion of the training, Stewards and Docents have the opportunity to "adopt" a preserve to assist us with monitoring and management activities, leading guided hikes and providing preserve visitors with information.
We have been pleased to receive a grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust to help us build our volunteer program this year. We will be conducting more orientation sessions and providing some important and fun volunteer activities. Please join us, and spread the word to friends and colleagues!
With thanks,
Desert Foothills Land Trust
