Issue 5: Interconnection
| June 2010 |
|
| Interconnection: it's in the small things | |

Finding the Connection in the details.
We all know the song "head bone's connected to your neck bone" but how often do we think about how true that is--or how deeply that connection goes?
This month, let's bring awareness to all of the connections we encounter everyday that we may not think about. When on the mat, notice how doing a side stretch can be felt all the way to the fingertips. Try smiling at someone you pass on the street or saying some nice words to a co-worker or friend and see if the energy of the day is changed. These may seem like small things, but it's through the small details that the web of life is nourished and strengthened.
This month Laughing Buddha is focusing on all of the connections we have with the world around us, with our body, mind, spirit, with our energy, and with our lives, on and off the mat. Join us in bringing awareness to the inter-connectivity of our lives! |
| Teacher of the Month: BETSIE MANER | |

What inspires you to teach? I like helping people grow strong mentally and physically when faced with challenges, and I also like that yoga invites you to be part of something bigger than yourself. What is your favorite pose? I don't really have a favorite, but I feel strong in Vasisthasana (side plank). What is your teaching history? First training was at Charlotte Yoga, and I began teaching there. I have also studied with many other inspirational teachers, Shiva Rea, Kimberly Wilson, and Johnny Gillespie to name a few.
