Chaturanga
Dandasana
Four-Limbed Staff Pose
---------------
Chaturanga Dandasana is a tough nut to crack. In its ideal form, the pose hovers above the floor, the body perfectly straight, the arms strengthened by their 90 degree angle. Getting to this position takes time and arm strength, which you gain by doing more and more chaturangas. Know when to say when, however; if your arms and shoulders start to feel fatigued and you are losing the integrity of the pose, switch over to knees, chest, and chin for the rest of class.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH
February |
|
"'There is no use trying', said Alice; 'one can't believe impossible things.' 'I dare say you haven't had much practice', said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'"

| Issue 1: 2000 inTENtion |
February 2010 |
Greetings!
If you practice with me on a regular basis you often hear me say,
"Don't rush the process." This year we are taking that one step further. 2010 is the year of in-TEN-tion for the studio, and with that, we encourage all of our clients to join us in taking our first steps onto the path, or "process," of this new year with in-TEN-tion.
Our "Buddha Blast" will come out every month with a new theme, pose of the month, updates and new happenings at the studio, and an inspirational quote or thought to set the tone for the month to come. We hope that our Buddha Blast will help you live each day to the fullest, and remind you to take your steps with in-TEN-tion, whether they are baby steps, or leaps and bounds.
Peace.

Setting things in MOTION
With the craziness of the holidays behind us, we can finally come up for air! Let's inhale deeply and exhale fully and completely. Take this "return to normalcy" as an opportunity to look back and reflect on 2009, how we've gotten to where we are now, in our lives and in our Yoga practice, and take inventory. What was great about the last year? What was not so great? Where do you want to be one year from now? Think big! Set your hopes high! Maybe you want to be able to hit headstand or flying pigeon, maybe you want to get through a whole FUSION class without even breaking a sweat! These goals might seem almost unattainable, but the most important part, and the part that we really have control of, is the genuine energy we put into our goal. So get that momentum going! Go ahead! Reach for the stars! You might find successes and rewards that you weren't even counting on. -LB
