This week students will learn to identify and describe furniture found in a living room, as well as talk about the activities that family members like to do there.  They will also illustrate and add detail to their own book.  A new story, Enrique y José, allows students to continue building their reading and writing skills. 


Vocabulary

los muebles...furniture
el sofá...sofa
la mesa...table
la silla...chair
la alfombra...rug
mirar (la televisión)...to watch (television)
hablar (con amigos/familia; por teléfono)...to talk (with friends/family; on the phone)
jugar (con juguetes; a los videojuegos)...to play (with toys; videogames)
leer (un libro, la revista, el periódico)...to read (a book, magazine, newspaper)
relajarse...to relax



dialogue

Point to an object in the room and ask, ¿Qué es esto?...What is this?
Es ___(la silla)__...It is __(the chair)___.

Ask students to describe the object. ¿Cómo es la silla? ¿De qué color es?...What is the seat like? What color is it?

Ask students what they like to do in the living room.  
¿Qué te gusta hacer en la sala?...What do you like to do in the living room.
Me gusta __ mirar la televisíon__... I like to __watch tv___.
         
Play charades with the activities. Ask your student to guess what you are portraying and then switch roles.

Play "Simón dice" (Simon Says). Tell students to touch an object, Toca __el sofá__...Touch __the sofa__. Don't forget to say "Simón dice"!

preferir...to prefer   Yo prefiero hablar por teléfono...I prefer to talk on the phone.
