Sombrero Time Children Smiling

Spanish 2

Students will be learning the rooms of the house this week.  A fun action poem will help students associate each room to a particular activity, which we learned last year.  We'll review prior house vocabulary and put it all together to create a poster showing both the inside and outside of the house. And we'll be playing one of our favorite games, Charades!   We will also be reading a story about a squirrel (Nutty, la ardilla).  We will answer questions about the story and learn how to retell the story.

How to Start Older Kids Learning a Foreign Language

"When introducing older kids to a language, with the goal of making them fluent multilinguals, the first consideration is really effort vs. motivation. After starting to speak one language (often around 2 years), learning another language requires some degree of effort from the child -- unlike assimilating two or more languages simultaneously from birth. So, you will have to make sure the motivation is there."
