2011 Bioscience Vision Summit details announced

In order to better leverage local resources with expertise across the state, Centergy has partnered with BioForward on various initiatives. We encourage local stakeholders to attend their Vision summit on September 8 in Madison.

This summit will discuss the science behind the passionate arguments surrounding genetic engineering and organic agriculture, as well as a visionary approach to combining them to feed our growing population. There will also be engaging and informative sessions on emerging trends in health, energy, agriculture and funding.  This is an innovative opportunity to experience growth by association.

To register please visit www.bioforward.org. Please contact the Centergy office for shared travel arrangements.

Greetings!

Centergy welcomes new members to restructured governing board

Barb Fleisner

Earlier this month our Centergy board approved a new structure which will allow us to better accomplish the following:

* Develop a volunteer leadership succession plan

* Allow for term limits which will broaden the perspective from additional stakeholders

* Better identify roles and responsibilities among various committees, the Board, and affiliate organizations

* Fully integrate the communities of Merrill and Adams County into Centergy's previous region of Marathon, Portage, and Wood Counties

These changes kept in the forefront Centergy's guiding principles:

* Collaboration: Leverage the resources across the region; work across municipal boundaries to do what is in the best interest of the entire region

* Competitiveness: Position Central Wisconsin as a leader in key industry sectors; grow from within model

* Consensus: Bring clarity of vision to priorities

HIGHLIGHTED CHANGES:

1. Centergy Board of Directors was reduced from 31 to 23-phasing down to 21, but the creation of a nine-member Executive/Governance Committee will allow for increased involvement at the Executive Level of the organization.

Earlier this month our Centergy board approved a new structure which will allow us to better accomplish the following:

2. The Executive Council comprised of top CEO's was increased, with their role of benchmarking our regional economy against other indicators and having roundtable discussions with top state and federal leaders.

3. Due to the fact that the local chambers/EDC's play a crucial role in the operation of Centergy and with the increase of geographic area, an Economic Development Council was formed to enhance strategies that have a direct tie to the local communities' economic development functions.

4. The three major areas of focus - Workforce, Business, and Community Development remains in place, with the addition of a fourth area of concentration - Marketing/Research & Investment, with all committee chairs also being a director on the board.

5. Under Business Development - Three committees came together under 'Bio-Science'. This mirrors the BioForward model at the State level, with sub-committees being formed related to Energy; Agriculture/Food Processing; and Medical Sciences.

Please click  HERE for the organizational structure.

We are eternally grateful to our retiring board members  (view here) and thankful that they all have agreed to continue to serve on various committees within the Centergy organization.

We are pleased to announce our new board members  (view here). Their individual area of expertise will enhance Centergy's aggressive approach as to how we execute our mission of stimulating measurable economic development in Central Wisconsin by aligning resources, encouraging cooperation among all sectors of our regional economy, and promoting the value of doing business here.

Please contact the Centergy office should you wish to volunteer in any aspect of our operation.

Best regards,

Barb
