Greetings!
2011 is cold outside but off off to a great start for your business outlook. The National Association of Home Builders is predicting that new single-family construction will grow in 2011 by a factor of 21.1% and followed in 2012 by a 49.6% gain. This is great news for those planning to dive back or deeper into the home builder business.
CES 2011 was very well attended but less so by our CEDIA based community. Computer tablet introductions abounded as did new video displays. However, the Venetian [audio companies displayed here] and other off-site locations held court for many of our suppliers. Business was brisk and dealers were enthusiastic.
We love this positive outlook on our custom installation and retail electronics community and we look forward to helping you expand your business in 2011.
Thank you from all of us, the Omega Sales Inc Team. |

Eliminate Surges
in Four 120 Volt 20 Amp Circuits for $2,199
 | | SurgeX XN120 |
You can offer complete protection from surges in 4 circuits from one box if you deploy the SurgeX XN120, the perfect protection solution for multi-circuit residential AV systems where space is at a premium. This compact 120 Volt / 80 Amp unit is hardwired as a subpanel at the service panel or the equipment room and is designed to provide failsafe protection required for multiple circuits
Engineered with professional grade Advanced Series Mode® Surge Elimination Technology and Impedance Tolerant® EMI/RFI noise filtering, the XN120 is the only NEMA enclosure protection product in the market that eliminates surges and transients that can degrade AV system performance and shorten service life. The XN120 frees up valuable rack space and eliminates the need for individual powerline conditioners. In most installations, there are panels located in each room that, until now, have needed to be protected separately. But, with the XN120, there is no need to protect each individual panel with a powerline conditioner at every site. When the panels are connected to a single circuit and fed through the XN120, the SurgeX unit will protect each panel on that circuit. There's no in wall extension cords, nor individual units to install and maintain. One XN120 circuit will protect an average of 8 panels. In addition, every outlet powered by the XN120 is protected even though there is no PLC at the rack.
"The XN120 frees up the valuable rack space that you didn't have before," said Rick Komendera, Vice President of Sales for SurgeX. "It protects and conditions from either the equipment room, or the demarcation and acts just like separate subpanel for your AV system. There's no in wall extension cords, nor multiple individual units to maintain."
As with all SurgeX products, the XN120 boasts Advanced Series Mode® Surge Elimination Technology and Impedance Tolerant® EMI/RFI noise filtering which eliminates all surges without the side effects that come with traditional surge suppression products. Unlike sacrificial MOV based surge protectors, the XN120 completely eliminates ALL surges up to 6,000 Volts/3000 Amps without producing disturbances that can degrade the performance and shorten the service life of an A/V system. Because of this technology, installers have the confidence that their power protection unit will actually protect the equipment they are installing and not degrade or damage it over time.
With SurgeX A-1-1 Certified Advanced Series Mode® technology, equipment will run better, sound better, and p icture quality will improve in the blink of an eye. SurgeX has recently extended its industry leading warranty from ten to now an industry leading eleven year Connected Warranty which not only protects the SurgeX equipment, but also every device that is plugged in to a SurgeX product.

A PDU Saves Money
 | | AMX PDU - Power Distribution Unit |
We are certain you have had the call... my cable box isn't working or my satellite box is out Your only response was likely to send staff out to the client's home only to find that all that was needed was a power cycle on the box. Your cost was a bunch of man hours in both time lost and a billable hours penalty. Thankfully, there is a very cool solution.
The exciting and very innovative AMX Power Distribution Unit (PDU) now allows you to control your client's rack as well as control their room. This PDU adds this basic level of control by allowing remote reset of devices via a power cycle, reducing the need to send your valuable staff out to a customer site to reset an item in the rack. By managing power delivery, the PDU monitors energy consumption of each connected component and restricts power to any or all devices when not in use. With 8 individually monitored and controlled AC outlets, built-in 12 Volt power supply, 2 sets of 4 AxLink Bus Strips, and power monitoring for each outlet, the PDU is flexible and can reduce wasteful standby power usage. iNova by Peachtree Audio is shipping now!
The iNova features an 80 watt per channel amplifier, class A tube preamp, high-resolution digital- to- analog converter, class A headphone amplifier and a PURE DIGITAL iPod dock. The iNovatakes the best from the award-winning Peachtree Audio Nova integrated amplifier and improves it! The upgrades are notable if your client wants the very best from their iPod, if you want your client to have the best resolution possible for their computer audio or from their streaming devices like Apple TV, Sonos and many others now on the market. - The USB input supports 24/96 without the need of loading external drivers.
- The coaxial and optical inputs now support bit-perfect 24/192.
- The amplifier is beefed up with the best capacitors and has punchier bass and better high-end extension.
- Peachtree Audio's Pure Digital iPod dock was added.
The iNova preamplifier section employs a Class A 6N1P tube output stage that smooths the harsh digital edge. You can run a separate amplifier or subwoofer from the pre-out RCA outputs if more power or bass is needed. The preamp maintains a high level of detail while taming digital music regardless of the codec. The iNova features a 24/96 USB input for your client's computer, plus two coaxial and two optical inputs delivering up to 24/192 resolution for other digital sources like Squeezebox, Apple TV, Airport and Sonos. It also offers two analog inputs for docking stations, CD players, tape decks or phono preamps. The iNova preamplifier covers the bases like no other product! Peachtree Audio then couples this with an 80 watt per channel ST MOSFET amplifier in the final stage, achieving a highly musical "analog" sound.
The heart of the iNova is the new ESS 9016, 32 bit, 24/192 D/A converter. It's specialized for computers or other sources that often deliver high levels of timing errors. Using the iNova with your client's current CD or DVD player will improve it, with higher resolution and added dynamic range.
Most DACs on the market were developed to accept low-jitter devices like a good CD player. When faced with the extremes of bad power supplies, grounding issues and high jitter, most fail to deliver maximum performance. The iNova, on the other hand, was developed with these unique problems in mind.
The ESS Sabre³² DAC's patented jitter-reduction circuit re-clocks the digital signal to less than three picoseconds before passing it through a high-resolution processor. This heavy re-clocking is required for computers and streaming or hard-drive based music servers. They all have high levels of timing problems that must be addressed if sound quality matters.
Noise associated with ground problems and switching power supplies is eliminated by transformer-coupling each digital input. The USB connection is galvanically isolated, eliminating noise generated by your computer's switching power supply and greatly improving the sound quality. Our design uses a multi-layer DAC board with over 450 components, a linear power supply and 11 regulated sub-power supplies, preventing noise at every level.
The iNova's second analog input doubles as a "Home Theater Bypass"-so you can have the best of home theater and two-channel in the same system! So now when your client listens to a two-channel source with their client's HT receiver or processor, there's a straight line from the source to the iNova to the speakers-no processing, no running the signal through a forest of circuitry. If your client is a two-channel fan, it's the only way to do theater right!

See all of the specifications for the iNova here. Get one into a project today!

Genelec Loudspeakers ~ Powerful ~ Profitable ~ Perfected
 | | Bart LoPiccolo National Sales Manager Genelec USA |
If you haven't considered Genelec as a solution for your theater designs, you may want to give a listen to Bart LoPiccolo when he is in town. He is an evangelist for the brand... with good reason - what you see with Genelec is what you get. Bart is visiting the Omega Sales territory this week from February 1st - 4th. Genelec offers a unique opportunity to take a theater from average to spectacular. There are several foundational reasons for this. First is the technology.- Active Crossovers - All of the Genelec speakers use a proprietary active crossover design.
- Optimized Amplifiers - Genelec speaker drivers are driven directly by an amplifier designed to specifically drive the particular load.
- Protection Circuitry - Genelec speakers are protected by proprietary circuitry designed to save te speaker from accidental failure.
- Room Response Controls - All of the speakers include controls that allow the speakers to be tuned to the acoustic environment they are placed in.
- Directivity Control Waveguide - to precisely control dispersion of their high frequency and midrange drivers the Genelec speakers use a Waveguide. This allows them to deliver the fidelity to the listener and helps ot take some of the room out of the equation.
These five technologies are the guiding force behind every Genelec speaker design. With this careful plan for success, it is no wonder that listeners are always surprised what a Genelec speaker sounds like. Second is the Limited Distribution of Genelec. To keep you profitable, you need to be competitive but assured that you will make a profit. Genelec is not available through distribution nor to just anyone. A client can expect to find Genelec only available through the highest quality dealers. Dealers who sell Genelec are all trained to understand the application of the Genelec products in a theater. Tuning the system is part of the installation plan. Third is the expectations of performance - Genelec systems are designed to reach the necessary SPL to achieve real performances in client homes. Each system is specified on the basis of this plan. Regardless of what size the room is that your client has, Genelec makes a system with the SPL performance to fill it. For a limited time this week we will have a complete Genelec system on display. Please feel free to schedule with your Omega Sales representative for a demonstration. You too will be a Genelec believer! |

Building Relationships with Designers, Architects, and Other Trades
Business growth today is dependent on seeking out new avenues to get at the work that is available in our communities. One of the more recent and very productive methods of gaining access to new projects is to be on the early side of the project by getting on the specifying side of the job.
Consider the case of an addition to a home. An architectural firm might be engaged to map out the addition plans and details while at the same time provide areas of remodel inside the existing structure. If you have a relationship with this firm, you might have already shown them new ideas, technology and revealed your integration skills. As they are working with the client, your area of expertise maybe considered and even strongly recommended. A remodel or addition often includes the addition of whole house audio, new video displays and distribution, lighting and system control. Kitchens in particular are areas where cost is less of an object and getting everything from audio to video to control is part of the design.
Interior designers are looking for contractors who get what they do. Meeting with designers gives you the edge as you begin to understand their needs and provide solutions that work in their best interest.
Other trades include stone material specialists, hard-scape & landscape designers, electrical firms, wood workers, cabinet makers, lighting designers, and more. Getting to know these firms and becoming friendly to their specialty will open additional doors.
Make a commitment to get in front of these firms. You can use some tools to get an audience. New products are sometimes a door in. AIA and ASID certified trainings are another path. Events that you host that provide a technology demonstration along with some food and beverages can create possibilities. Team with your local representatives that call on these trades.
Prepare materials to leave behind at any visit that tell your story. A binder or even a single sheet that can be referenced at a later date will find it's way into a possible additional meeting with any one of these specifiers.
