USHSR's Thomas Hart Testifies Before Congress
Last week, USHSR's Vice President of Government Affairs Thomas Hart testified at a Congressional transportation hearing on high speed rail. Chaired by Congressman Bill Shuster and Ranking Member Corrine Brown, testimony was heard about streamlining the rail program going forward. Mr. Hart introduced legislation to speed up the introduction of private capital into the HSR program, which would open up new sources of funding and help ramp up the national program. "We look forward to working with members of Congress to help advance this new legislation. This will unlock the potential for high speed rail in America by wide participation from Wall Street and the private capital markets." said Mr. Hart following the hearing. High speed rail continues to be a hot topic! USHSR has been in a wide variety of news media lately including:

Wisconsin Governor Walker Supporting HSR!
In an amazing twist of fate, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker now supports rail in his state and wants Federal money for the project! USHSR commends Governor Walker for realizing the great value rail offers for businesses, job creation, economic revitalization, and in delivering new options for better mobility not subject to congestion, delays, or rising gas prices. "That's good for business, that's good for business travelers and it's yet one more incentive to do business here in southeastern Wisconsin," said Governor Walker.
USHSR supports elected officials and candidates of all parties that support high speed rail. "This benefits everyone", said Andy Kunz, USHSR's President, "It will greatly improve American mobility and efficiency - saving us money, time, and energy. Its smart business." Governor Walker added: "Amtrak's Hiawatha line carried nearly 800,000 passengers between Milwaukee and Chicago last year and is seeing growth this year." |

Video pairs show the mobility advantages of high speed rail. USHSR paired up several side-by-side videos to compare different modes of travel with dramatic results.
The first video pair compares winter travel between airplanes and fast trains. The second video pair compares rush hour travel between highways and fast trains. The videos are set up to be watched together as pairs for the best side-by-side comparisons.
