Pallet and Reusable Container Theft: Both Opportunity and Threat for Recyclers and Users

Companies are starting to get serious about reusable container and
pallet loss, particularly as it relates to outright theft. For pallet
recyclers and pallet users alike, this turn of events is really a
double-edged sword.
It speaks to the opportunity for asset recovery for leaky proprietary
systems, but it also foreshadows the risk of new legal challenges for
unlawful possession of proprietary containers or pallets in recycling

Parting Shot

NWPCA likes to say that pallets move the world. In the case of catastrophe, they just might help shelter it as well. This week's parting shot is from Florida-based Gary Garkowski, Managing Director at Logistics & Transport Marketing. Formerly VP at both CHEP USA and iGPS, as well as for other companies, Gary's picture shows how pallets can be utilized to fabricate emergency housing. This isn't normally what pool designers think about when they create a pallet system, but if catastrophe planners have an extra tool to provide relief, that's not a bad option to have available.
