Whether you are taking a first plunge into the cost effective and environmentally rewarding world or reusable packaging, or expanding your usage, there are plenty of options available to help you get up to speed over the next few months, and into the latter half of the year.

The upcoming North American Material Handling Show, NA 2010 has a number of reusable packaging suppliers on display, as well as educational seminars targeted at reusables. Orbis sponsors two educational sessions, including "How to Reduce Transportation costs with Reusable Plastic Containers and Pallets,"as well as "How to Choose the Right Plastic Pallet for Use at Retail." For more information, click here.

Also this month, the Canadian Pallet Council (CPC), Canada's 33 year young cooperative pallet pool, runs its annual Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Ontario. The Canadian Pallet Council has a structure that is inclusive of product shippers, receivers, transport companies, as well as pallet providers. When MIT business thinker Peter Senge talks about getting the entire system "into a room," in order to solve complex systems issues, this isn't a bad approximation of that. Read more here.

In May, California's Stopwaste.org offers yet another of its useful workshops on reusable packaging, as part of its mission to divert solid waste from landfills. This session is in Palo Alto. Check out the details.

The premier event of the year in terms of education for pallet users will be at the Reusable Packaging Annual General meeting, co-located once again at PACK EXPO, coming November in Chicago. Having attended last year's event at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it is well worth the investment to attend. More details here.

Finally, there are some educational options as close as your desktop. We'll expand this topic in the near future, but a few items to consider include some new webinars offered by Fluensee, as well as a recent podcast including Derek Hannum of CHEP.

Thanks for taking a look. Like reusable packaging, we'll be back! See you next week.

Sincerely,

Rick LeBlanc
