Summer Fun for all Ages
Summer Reading is in full swing at the Wadleigh Library, with something for everyone. No matter what your age, we have a reading program and events and activities for you.
Join us outdoors at the Keyes Field for Friday Storytimes at 11 a.m. every Friday in July and August, or for a Skywatch for all ages at 8:30 p.m. on July 11. Or 'Own the Night' and join us for Ghost Hunting 101 on July 18.
This year we have an Adult Summer Reading program in addition to our Children and Teen programs. Adults will get a Raffle Ticket for each book read, and there will be a drawing each week for prizes donated by local merchants.

Just in Time for Summer

Discounted movie tickets are available at the Library as a Friends of the Library fundraiser. $5.50 per ticket, or 10 for $50.00. These are ordinarily 7.50 per ticket. Stock up for rainy summer days.

Sign up at the the front desk and then fill out a raffle ticket for each book you read during the summer. A raffle prize will be drawn each week until the program ends on August 18th. |

Keyes Memorial Field 
The New Hampshire Astronomical Society will meet us at the Keyes Field to help guide us through the wonders of the night sky. They will bring telescopes for public use, but feel free to bring your own. We will be meeting in Keyes Field around 8:30pm, the skywatch will start around 9pm when the sun finally sets.

Book Group Field Trip
Thursday, July 19 7 - 8:30 p.m. Wilton Library
The Evening Book Group and the Morning Book Group have been invited to attend a New Hampshire Humanities Council program at Wilton Public & Gregg Free Library. NH Humanities Council Scholar Robert B. Perrault will present Before Peyton Place: In Search of the Real Grace Metalious. Grace DeRepentigny Metalious believed that in rejecting her own ethnic and religious heritage, she would come closer to inheriting the "American Dream." Metalious' Quebecois ancestry and her formative years in Manchester reveal aspects of the author that the public rarely knew.
The public is invited to attend. Call Sue Amann at 673-7188 for carpool information. Carpools will leave the library parking lot at 6:15 pm and return at approximately 9 pm. |

Ghosthunting 101
Wednesday, July 18 7 - 8 p.m. Keyes Meeting Room
Susan Allen, Director and Lead Investigator for Souhegan Paranormal Investigators (SPI) based out of Nashua, NH will conduct a presentation titled "Walking and Talking with the Spirit World". Included in the presentation will be photographs of spirit energy and EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomena) captured on live investigations. Following the presentation, there will be a short question and answer period. This program is open to teens and adults. |
Knit 1, Crochet 2
1st and 3rd Mondays of every Month 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Keyes Meeting Room

Are you looking for other yarn addicts? Do your Monday nights seem dull? Look no further! Don't have a project in mind? Can't seem to finish that scarf for Grandma? Or are you a complete beginner with an itch to stitch? Bring your project in & be inspired; if you're a beginner, your local craft store can help you select a project & requisite supplies. There will be no formal instruction but 'knitwits' are a helpful bunch and love to indoctrinate the uninitiated into the cult of knitting. Tea, helpful company & oodles of knitting books will be served.

Teen Craft: Dreamcatchers

Own the Night and catch your dreams! You will make your own dreamcatcher to hang over your bed at night. According to Ojibwa legend, nightmares will pass through the hole in the center of the dreamcatcher, while the good dreams are caught and slide down the feathers to the dreamer. All materials provided.

Teen Event: The Art of Ghost Photography
Tuesday, July 17 2 - 4 p.m. Keyes Meeting Room How to Make Your Own (fake) Ghost Photos
Back in the old days, people used to fake ghost photos by double-exposing film. Learn how to make a modern ghost photo, using a digital camera, Photoshop, and transparent layers. You do not need any experience with Photoshop! If you would like, bring your own digital camera, USB cord, and flash drive. (If you do not have a camera or flash drive, the library's camera will be available for use, and your finished .jpg file can be emailed to you.)
Registration begins July 1 and is limited to 15. This program is for teens entering grades 6-12. |

Shadow Puppets

Come join us for some fun in the dark! We will be exploring the art of shadow puppetry, from the basic fun shapes you can make with your hands to the more complex Javanese shadow puppets.
After watching a Javanese shadow puppet show, everyone will get a chance to make their very own shadow puppets and even go behind the stage to do a little performing with themselves.

Campfire Storytime
Monday, July 16 7 - 8 p.m. Children's Room Spooky stories and campfire treats! What could be better? Tonight is the night to join us if you want to sit around an amazing (fake) campfire, and listen to some of the most bone chilling tales you can imagine. You might even get a chance to spin a yarn yourselves! To ease your fear we will be serving a favorite campfire snack. This event is for those who are brave of heart and who don't mind being a little scared. |
