Lyme Disease Lecture

Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
Keyes Meeting Room

Deer Tick

A great deal of myth and misunderstanding surrounds Lyme disease, both within and outside the medical community. Many people are misdiagnosed with other chronic ailments such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis because of the lack of understanding regarding the far-ranging nature of Lyme symptoms and the inaccuracy of the testing. David Hunter, Director of the Bedford Lyme Disease Council will help to dispel some of the myths surrounding the disease. He is facilitator for the Greater Manchester Lyme Disease Support Group as well as the NH Lyme Disease Support Group for Teens, and co-chairman of the Bedford Lyme Disease Council and was featured in the NH Chronicle program in July 2010 entitled Living with Lyme: New Hampshire's Exploding Epidemic.

PAWS to Read

Saturday, March 10, 10:30 a.m.
Children's Room

Dog and Child Reading

Read to a DOG? Not just any dog....

Certified Therapy Pets are a wonderful way to encourage reluctant readers and children having difficulties with reading to become more confident in their ability to read. The use of Therapy Pets in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes has been shown to decrease anxiety, lower blood pressure and promote relaxation; the same premise applies to children with reading difficulties.

For those children who cannot yet read on their own, parents & caregivers are invited to read with their children. In order to guarantee your spot, you must register for each session.

Registered children should arrive during the advertised time span and will read to the dog of their choice for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Check our online calendar at www.wadleighlibrary.org for upcoming dates & times.
