Library News

Due to budget cuts at the NH State Library, our van delivery service has been cut by 40%. This vital service gives us access to library materials we could not otherwise afford; it also enables us -- and NH's 200+ other libraries -- to ship and receive items throughout the state so that we can fill your requests in a timely manner. Last year the van service delivered nearly 1 million items to library patrons.

While we sincerely regret the inconvenience, please expect that your requests may now take longer to fill. If you need something quickly, you may still use your Wadleigh Library card at any other library in the GMILCS consortium. For more information and a list of other GMILCS libraries, see www.gmilcs.org/services.asp

9/11 Tenth Anniversary
We plan to mark this anniversary with two book discussion groups on Thursday, September 8th. The morning discussion will focus the graphic novel, Persepolis. The evening discussion will cover two books, Don DeLillo's The Falling Man and The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright. Copies of these three books will be available for pickup in early August. Call the library to reserve your copy today.

We will also have an Art Contest for Young Adults and more. Stay tuned, more details to come.

Bellows FallsBellows Falls by Archer Mayor is the 3rd novel in the Yankee Crime series hosted by the Tri-Town Book Group.

"Vermont homicide detective Joe Gunther takes on a disturbing case of spousal abuse, police corruption and murder in his latest outing. Asked to conduct a minor Internal Affairs investigation in Bellows Falls, Gunther has to work quickly to separate fact from fiction--but nothing he's heard will prepare him for what he's about to see."

This discussion will be facilitated by William Doreski, poet and professor of English, Keene State College; author of several books, including How to Read and Interpret Poetry.

Call the library to reserve your copy of the book or pick one up at the circulation desk. All are welcome.

Lego

Donations Needed!
The Children's Room is still looking for donations of small LEGO pieces (we have more than enough DUPLO) to support our family Lego programs.  In particular, children are always looking for more LEGO people to add to their creations.
