Children's Summer Reading Program |
|
Summer is here, and you will want to make sure that your child has the best ticket in town for summer fun - a WADLEIGH MEMORIAL LIBRARY CARD. Cards are FREE for every Milford resident 5 years and older. With their library card your young reader can explore countries and cultures from around the globe with this year's summer reading program, "One World, Many Stories." In addition to tracking reading progress, children can enjoy magic and music, bubbleology and bingo, lizards and LEGO, raptors and reptiles, fishing fun and so much more. All programs are FREE to Milford library card holders who are registered for the summer reading program.
SUMMER READING REGISTRATION is quick and easy. Students in grades K - 4 at the Jacques and Heron Pond Elementary Schools will receive a summer reading packet, including a registration form, from their classroom teacher. Summer reading packets will be available at the library for all other Milford library card holders in grades K - 4, beginning Tuesday, May 31. Beginning June 9th, all registered readers can stop by the library and pick up a FREE book of their choice to get their summer reading started.
Summer Reading officially begins on June 23rd and continues through August 29th. Collect raffle tickets all summer for a chance to win some of the GREAT PRIZES on display outside the Children's Room. |

 Ronald's Reading Adventure Show Tuesday, July 5th at 1 p.m. Children's Room
Ronald's upbeat show is filled with adventure, magic, audience participation and reading fun. This program is FREE and is recommended for children between the ages of 4 and 9 years old. The performance is approximately 30 minutes long with a short meet and greet following the show. Each child will receive a small book from Ronald. Bring a camera! |

Project Nature: Turtles

Project Nature's central goal is to help children develop a sense of relationship with the earth and non-human animals. Brianna from Fox's Pride Dairy Farm in Mont Vernon will be visiting with several baby goats. Children will have the opportunity to pet the goats and learn a bit about these loveable little animals. BRING A CAMERA!

 Tuesday, July 12th from 10 - 12 a.m. Families are invited to get behind the wheels, honk the horns and meet the people who drive the BIG TRUCKS AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES around Milford. FREE HARD HATS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST 100 VISITORS. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR CAMERA!!

Theater Group

Oil Pastels
with Kristine Brock
Thursday, July 14th at 2 p.m.
Students will have the opportunity to work in oil pastels from a still life of flowers creating an art piece in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. Participants will be instructed in basic oil pastel techniques, how to draw from a still life and learn about the Dutch artist Van Gogh.
This program is for REGISTERED SUMMER READERS entering grades 3-5.

Have you always been interested in the sport of fishing, but haven't known where to begin? The NH Fish and Game Department LET'S GO FISHING Program is offering you the chance you've been looking for. Join us as we explore the basic skills & equipment you need & the resources available to you on your journey to becoming an angler. Once you have learned the basics you'll get the chance to put your new skills to the test; we'll head out to a local pond and do some fishing! The class is open to anyone age 8 and over (no exceptions), however those 16 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. ALL equipment & materials are provided.
NOTE: You MUST attend ALL 4 SESSIONS. The field trip will be held on 8/4, 5-8pm, rain or shine, at a location to be determined.
REGISTRATION is REQUIRED and begins Monday, July 18th.

Teen Summer Reading Program 2011
Teens entering grades 6-12 can travel around the world this summer without leaving home! Get stamps in your passport for "visiting" other countries by reading and attending teen programs. Fill your reading passport to earn the chance to win great prizes in the Super Reader Raffle at the end of the summer!
Starting June 23, get your passport and fill out a registration card at the library, and pick up a free book! You can read books or come to teen programs to fill your passport.
