Computer Upgrade Planned
 Wednesday, June 16th
 
We will be upgrading our library computer systems on Wednesday, 6/16.  This is a routine upgrade and patrons will still be able to check out books & open new
accounts.  
 
However, during the upgrade we will  be unable to check the status of patron's accounts, renew items or take in fine payments.

During the months of June, July and August these two book groups will participate in the Tri-Town Book Club, reading their selections.

"Computers in the Library"
 will not be offered this Summer.
 
The weekly computer classes offered on Monday evenings will not be offered at the library this summer.  We will resume classes in the fall, so keep an eye out for our announcment.

Welcome to the Wadleigh Memorial Library June Newsletter.  With the arrival of June comes the end of the school year and the beginning of the Summer Reading programs at the Library. Our Children's program, Make a Splash, READ! begins on June 18th along with our Teen program, Make WAVES at your Library
 
We have several new book clubs starting up this summer, Tri-Town Book Series for adults, Pizza & Pages for teens, and 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Book Club   run by the Children's librarians.
 
Children's programs include Pajama Story times, Kindermusik,  
Legos block party,  Flip flop t-shirtsPaper Airplanes, and the Red, White & Blue Toddler Dance.  WildlifeEncounters will also be back in June, with a new program called Creepy, Crawly Creatures of the Night.
 
Our young adult programs cover a wide range of activities from a MarioKart Tournament, Twilight Eclipse Party, and a Luau to kick off the Teen Summer Reading Program. 
 
This summer we will be offering passes to the Children's Museum of NH, this is a new pass we are encouraging our patrons to try out.  
 
We hope you enjoy our June programs.

The Wadleigh Library is excited to offer discounted passes to The Children's Museum of NH for
three months this summer.  
 
 Located in Dover, NH The Children's Museum of NH opened it's doors in July, 2008.  It's interactive exhibits are for children of all ages, toddlers to middle schoolers.  (formerly the The Children's Museum of Portsmouth)
 
This new pass is provided by the Friends of the Library until August 31. The pass allows up to 4 people a 50% discount off admission rates. Reserve it today

The Wadleigh Memorial Library has partnered with the Milford Rotary Club Foundation to sell $20.00 raffle tickets during their "100 Holes of Golf in One Day" Tournament.  Ten dollars of each ticket purchased at the Wadleigh Library will be donated directly to the Children's Room.
 
Please note, tickets purchased to benefit the library must be purchased at the Wadleigh Library in order for the library to benefit.

If you have just finished high school, Congratulations!!!!  Now What??? If you are one of the millions of high school graduates who really isn't sure which way to turn, come to our evening seminar on June 21st to get a compass. 
 
We are delighted to welcome back to the Wadleigh Library our resident Career Coach, Sue Henry.  She has developed a special program just for teens on finding your way and creating an exciting life after high school.

Book Group
 
The Tri-Town BooK Group returns again this summer. We will read 3 novels from the New Hampshire Humanities Council Series Contemporary New England Voices at three locations: Wadleigh library in Milford, Daland library in Mont Vernon, and Wilton Public & Gregg Free library in Wilton.
 
a brothers bloodOn June 22nd at 7pm at the Wadleigh Memorial Library in Milford, the first selection in the series is A Brother's Blood by Michael C. White. This novel is set in a small Maine village where in 1945 German prisoners worked in a logging camp. After her brother is killed in an accident Libby Pelletier suspects murder and looks for answers by seeking information about the past and begins to have disturbing memories of events of long ago. NH Humanities Council scholar Holly Perrault will facilitate the discussion.
 
Copies of the book will be available at all three libraries. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to register for this free event at the Wadleigh library.

On July 21st at 7pm at the Daland Memorial Library the group will discuss The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve.  The talk is facilitated by Dr. Kathleen Cain, professor at Merrimack College.

On August 18th at 7pm the third and final discussion in the series will take place at the Wilton Public and Gregg Free library in Wilton.  The group will discuss Park City: Collected Stories by Ann Beattie, led by Suzanne Brown, visiting Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College.
 
NH humanities councilCopies of each book will be available for loan at all the libraries and all meetings are free and open to the public.

Summer Reading 2010
Calling all readers and their families!
School will be out before you know it and the library is ready.  This year we will be offering oceans of fun with mime, mad science, musical mischief and good old-fashioned fun with the Toe Jam Puppet Band, night creatures, bedtime bingo, book clubs...and most importantly lots of great summer reading.
 
How & when do we Sign Up? 
Registration Forms for summer reading will be available to Milford library card holders, beginning friday, June 18th, at the library. Any child who returned a Registration Form at school is automatically registered. Each reader who registers will be able to choose a FREE book to help jumpstart his/her summer reading.

This program is for all children entering Readiness through Grade 5.

Kick off the Summer Reading season as Wildlife Encounters Zoo returns with another exciting program that will expose ever-so-curious explorers to a wide variety of REPTILES, AMPHIBIANS and INVERTEBRATES. This promises to be a fun and educational adventure with all things creepy!

Due to limited space, tickets will be required and will become available to Milford Library Card holders, at the library, beginning Thursday, June 10th.

Children are invited to get into their coziest pj's and bring a favorite stuffed animal to the library for stories, music and more. All furry friends will be able to spend the night at the library (BE SURE CHILDREN SELECT AN ANIMAL THEY CAN SPEND THE NIGHT WITHOUT) where they will have their photo taken as they enjoy2010 special after-hours adventures at the library.
 
Children will return the next morning, Tuesday, June 29th between 9:30 & 10:30am to retrieve their stuffed pals and share juice and snacks with other library friends.
Registration is not required.
