One man's campaign to build schools in the most dangerous, remote, & anti-American reaches of Asia: in 1993 Greg Mortenson was an American mountain-climbing bum wandering emaciated & lost through Pakistan's Karakoram. After he was taken in & nursed back to health by people of a Pakistani village, he promised to return one day & build them a school.  Mortenson's one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools, especially for girls.

Jump start your holiday shopping with a visit to the Children's Room Book Sale. The sale begins today and will continue for as long as the inventory holds out. The selection will feature children's books of all types as well as DVD's and videos. There will also be a limited number of young adult and adult tiles. Go "green" this holiday season - shop the library book sale.

The Acoustic Cafe series is very generously sponsored by the Friends & Trustees of the Wadleigh Library. This program is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be available and all donations will benefit the Library. Doors open @ 7pm; performance begins at 7:30pm.

Set-up & use Internet Explorer to make the most of the World Wide Web.
Registration recommended to get a computer to practice on, but students are welcome to sit and watch.

Winners of the writing contest will have a chance to read their entries aloud (for more details about the writing contest, check out the teen website). What can be more fun than hanging around other Twilight fans??

Fall Story Times

Story School for 3½ - 6 year-olds

They will listen to stories, sing songs, & a theme-related craft. Your child Must be 4 years old by 12/09 in order to participate.  Registration Required!!
 
Babies, Books and More:
Baby Lap sit Story Time for birth - 18 months

Wednesdays at 10 am -  Nov. 4,18
We'll read together, do bouncing rhymes, tickle songs, blow bubbles, and dance to the music from 10:00-10:30, then it's "stay & play" from 10:30-11:00. NO Registration Required.
 
Just for the 18-month - 24-month-olds!
Mondays at 10 am  -  Nov. 2,9,16
We'll read together, sing, and have fun from 10:00-10:30, then it's "stay & play" from 10:30-11:00.  No Registration.
 
Just for the 2 - 3½-year-olds!
Mondays at 10:30 am  -  Nov. 2,9,16
We'll read stories, do movement & have lots of fun. 
No Registration Required.
PAWS To Read dog reading
Saturday, Nov. 14th from 10:30am-12:00pm
 
Children of any age who are able to read are invited to sign up to practice their reading skills with a Certified Therapy Dog. Ali, Koda, Molly, Scooter & our newest addition--Weezie--are area Therapy Dogs who with their owners, are volunteering their time to help children become better readers.
 
Readers can arrive any time between 10:30 and 11:30am to read to the dog of their choice for approximately 20 minutes. No specific time slots are needed but those who sign up will be guaranteed time to read for this month's session. You will need to sign up for each month's session. Please note that not all dogs will be available each month.
 
For more information, pick up a brochure at the Library or contact Michelle Sampson 673-2408. Milford cardholders only due to space/time restrictions.
Holiday Card Making

Families are invited to stop by the Children's Room and create holiday cards for everyone on their list. Imagination is required - everything else will be provided.
