In developing the XLF™ Ballscrew Product Range, JENA-TEC has recognized the importance of the ballscrew in servo loop performance, and designed a ballscrew to meet the demands of modern machine tool controls. The unique design of the XLF™ has produced a ballscrew with extremely low coefficient of friction while retaining high system rigidity and eliminating reversal error. (Reversal error occurs when lost motion is apparent during change in rotational direction in the ballscrew).
XLF™ Ballscrews also makes it possible to reduce the preload in the ballnut while retaining rigidity. Another benefit is that with reduced preload, thermal stability of the assembly is enhanced, producing a ballscrew with extremely low levels of heat generation. Ballscrew life and wear accuracy are significantly improved, and the ballscrew is extremely quiet compared to traditional designs.
These improvements have been achieved using hybrid materials and changes in the design of the raceway profile of the screw and nut. These changes are not noticeable to the eye with the exception of the blue/grey appearance of the ballscrew. The reduced preload and smooth run can be felt when the ballnut is turned by hand.
