The golden age of motion pictures and theaters is documented in an intriguing scrapbook in the Archives. Lester Clark, the manager of several Pasadena movie theaters during the 1930s, collected materials relating to the exhibition, promotion, and advertising of motion pictures. The scrapbook contains publicity photos of major studio previews, programs, promotional giveaways, and other movie ephemera. Photos show stars such as Tyrone Power, Robert Young, John Wayne, Frances Dee, Joe E. Brown, and the life-size head of King Kong making personal appearances at theaters in Pasadena.

One painting from the exhibition that best represents the theme will be purchased by the participating galleries and donated to PMH as a gift of appreciation. It will add a new contemporary work to the Museum's important collection of California plein aire paintings.
