Pasadena Patron: The Life & Legacy of Eva Scott Fenyes Wed - Sun, Noon to 5:00 pm
In an era
when well-to-do families took a special interest in creating significant and
valuable collections, Pasadena's Eva Scott Fenyes devoted her
discriminating tastes, vast knowledge, and ample funds to surround herself with
furniture, textiles, china, silver, and art. The Fenyes Mansion
is filled with art and antiques assembled by Eva and her
second husband, Dr. Adalbert Fenyes, from their travels worldwide. Pasadena
Patron offers an in-depth examination of the
life and legacy of one of early Pasadena's
most prominent and influential women. Themes covered in this special exhibition include Fenyes
family history, Eva as an art patron and watercolorist, the influence of Europe and the East Coast on her collection, and the social milieu she created here in Pasadena. Exhibition highlights include items from the Fenyes collection never before on public display.

Upcoming Events
Textile Arts Council Women's Work - The First 20,000 Years Tuesday, November 9, 7:30 pm Weaving was invented long before pottery or metallurgy, and for millennia textiles absorbed more labor hours than even food production. New methods of recovering objects have made it possible to reconstruct much about this craft, which involved principally women. The archaeological study of cloth and clothing is now giving us wonderful glimpses into the lives of women from queens to slave girls. Join Elizabeth Barber, Professor Emerita of Archaeology and Linguistics at Occidental College for this lecture based on her book of the same title.
Tickets: Museum Members $10; Textile Arts Council Members $5; Non-Members $15. Reservations suggested; please call 626.577.1660, ext. 10. Image: Mosaic fragments showing two women working with a spindle. From Mari, on the middle Euphrates, early second millennium B.C.
