Weeks of April 23 & 30, 2012

"God is the One who gives seeds to the farmer. And He is the One Who will give you all the seeds that you need and make them grow."                                         2 Corinthians 9:10

THANK YOU for telling our story. As new families call to inquire further about Our Redeemer Lutheran School, it is clear that YOU are doing your job! It is wonderful to hear again and again that YOU are sowing seeds with your relatives, friends, and neighbors. They are coming because you have shared the Good News about Jesus and told them that THAT is what happens here every day! We are so blessed to have a mission so vital and a message so important to share with boys and girls and their families each and every day.

We trust that as we head into the final six weeks of school for the 2011-2012 school year, your children KNOW more spiritually and academically than they did when the school year commenced. We pray that they are more secure in Jesus' love, more able to communicate their faith, and realize that God has blessed them with the intelligence they need to prepare to serve Him in life.

We've all been GROWING! Physically each and every child has grown since August. Even our teachers can claim to have grown older! What about your child's emotional growth? Can you see improvements in their self-confidence, their willingness to communicate their needs and all they have learned, and witnessed a "growth spurt" in their spiritual wisdom?

It's a fairly certain bet that all of this KNOWING and GROWTH has also changed their personality a slight bit. Boys and girls are more mature and less 'thrown' by some of the things that used to concern them or even bother them. Our 8th graders are setting their sights on high school. Ever since registering in late January, it has probably seemed an eternity as they move toward the freedoms they anticipate and the responsibilities they will assume.

How about YOU? Have you grown, too? Oh, yes, we know older is true, but how about in your walk with Jesus, your ability to trust Him when you as a parent are 'thrown' by the awesome responsibilities the job entails? Are you changing and adapting to a little less control as your children get older? It's bound to happen, you know!

That brings us to SOWING. Both at home and at school you and we have been sowing faith seeds by the Spirit's power. It is far more likely that you may see some of the plant growth than your child's teacher will. One year is such a short time. Sometimes it would seem that these seedlings are gone long before the growth can be proven. We pray that throughout the remainder of this fleeting school year, you will experience the blessings of a Christian education and the nurturing that is meant to intentionally allow your whole family to KNOW, GROW, and SOW ... JESUS!

Let's pack the gym and show our appreciation and support for the hard work of our students and their directors.  Make plans NOW to attend --- mom, dad, grandparents, & friends are all welcome.  We can guarantee you find it worth your time ... and it shows your student(s) that you care about their effort and abilities in music as well as academics and sports at ORLS!

2011- 2012 ORLS School Registration

DO YOU KNOW ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GREAT SCHOOL?  Our Co$t $haring Program could reward you with a $200.00 credit toward your 2012-2013 second semester tuition/school fees simply for directing a new family to ORLS!  We already have Seven FAMILIES who have brought friends or relatives to us who will be part of our ORLS family next year!  Simply call the school office and let us know you are sending them to visit.  If they enroll, stay through at least the first semester and pay their billings regularly, your family account will recognize the Co$t $haring savings AND we would have the opportunity to share Jesus with them throughout their time at ORLS.  It's THAT easy!

From the School Office...

Last Call ~ Financial Aid Applications

Families wishing to apply for financial aid for the 2012-2013 school year are reminded that the deadline for application through SMART Tuition Aid is Tuesday, May 2nd!  Call the school office with questions.  Just a reminder, that if aid is applied for and granted, there is no cost to the family for the application process.  However, should aid be denied due to income, a charge of $29.00 will be applied to your SMART account!

News Around the School...

PTL News

Monday, May 7, is quickly approaching and the PTL Staff and Teacher Appreciation Luncheon is about to take place.  We are still in need of volunteers to help with outside and lunch supervision.  We all appreciate what our children's teachers are doing.  The staff at ORLS is exemplary and this is our opportunity to show our appreciation.  If you haven't already, you still have time to volunteer your time from 11:30 to 1:00.  Wouldn't it be fun to spend some time with your child's class?  Please email the PTL to sign up to help.  The PTL email is [email protected].  We will need your name, phone number, child's class and if you can't help out for the whole time, let us know when you can.  This is a great way to show your appreciation for all that the teachers and staff at ORLS do each day.

As the year begins to wind down, we will be discussing the luncheon and believe it or not, the Back-to-School Picnic scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012!

Birthday Books 2011-2012

One way that we improve our school library is through the contributions of families who order their child(ren) a "Birthday Book."   This year distribution of those books has been slowed due to having no 'host' of volunteers who can readily access the information needed to complete the arduous process of cataloguing the books according to library standards.  We owe Mrs. Sue Hanson a HUGE debt of gratitude as she has this task her 'part-time' job!  Nevertheless, it is tedious and time-consuming work and she has them almost finished.  They will be placed in circulation VERY soon!  Our sincere thanks to the parents who gifted their child and grew our library through this important program!
