A Very Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!

"Life has its seasons.  As the year turns and the seasons come round, you are reminded that all things have their time and place.  Spring is the time of new birth and new beginnings, of seedlings pushing through the ground and small green leaves lacing the tree branches with young growth.  Summer brings flowers, fruitfulness, and long lazy days with picnics and vacation and play.  FALL IS A TIME OF HARVEST AND ENDINGS, OF STARTING SCHOOL, AUTUMN MISTS, AND DRIFTING LEAVES.  Winter's cold brings a reminder of death and dormancy, yet even then the buds for next year's growth wait on the branches in anticipation of spring's warmth."  from Timeless Wisdom & Foolproof Strategies

Fall is also a time when as Christians we take time to give special thanks to our Heavenly Father for His forgiveness, the year's harvest, our health, our loved ones, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School . . . the list goes on and on AND on!
With voices united, our praises we offer,

And gladly our songs with thanksgiving we raise,

With you, Lord, beside us ,Your strong arm will guide us,

To You, our great Redeemer, forever be praise!

Parent-Teacher Conferences were held and we are very happy with the attendance and feedback we received.  If you would like to share your thoughts on the SLC model, please e-mail them to Mrs. Irish @ mary.irish@orlctosa.org or contact her at 414-258-4558.  If your family is new to ORLS you may have particularly interesting insights to share.  We have been asked to share our experiences with Christ Community Lutheran School in Kirkwood, Missouri.  All comments are appreciated.  Thank you so much for being on time and communicating with your child's teacher!

Book Fair and Library News...

Birthday Books should hopefully be distributed in the next few weeks.

Monthly Missions Total Mounting!

October Mission Offerings totaled $895.67.  B.A.S.I.C. Missions will be the recipient of these funds as they share the Gospel around the world.  What a blessing we have to be able to witness, provide funding, and pray for our various mission organizations monthly AND introduce your children to regular and proportianate giving through our own example of tithing our first fruits to the Lord!

Our November mission project(s) are two-fold.  First, we hold a food gathering in every chapel service this month.  These food donations go to the Wauwatosa Food Pantry.  (See above for this two weeks' of designations for your child's age group.)  Secondly, our November monetary offering will go to A Place of Refuge, a mission of the LCMS that serves single moms who are pregnant or have newborns who experience less support than is needed.  The Christian care, concern, and witness at A Place of Refuge coupled with a place to stay and support as needed is a wonderful mission to these young moms.

What Are New Parents Saying About Our Redeemer Lutheran School?

"As parents of a five year old little girl, heading into Kindergarten, after a phenomenal preschool experience, we were scared.  Making the decision as to where we should send her was not an easy one.

My daughter walked away from her preschool, believing that it existed solely for her benefit.  She believed she was the star of her life and anyone who taught or attended school at her preschool were supporting players in her show.

We wanted her desire to learn to continue.  We wanted her sense of belonging to continue.  We still wanted her to feel special and loved.  We believed finding that again would be next to impossible, and we'd have to settle for something less and just make do.  After touring ORLS and other schools we knew ORLS was special.  Our daughter loved it and we realized we wouldn't have to settle.

Our daughter again believes ORLS was founded solely for her education.  Speaking of her education, she has told me in no uncertain terms, "I am very lucky, because my teacher, Mrs. Boehme, knows everything."  How amazing to have a Kindergarten teacher who knows everything or a child who truly believes that.

Our daughter is so happy with our decision, as are we.  ORLS has truly become "her school".  She has told us, "Our Redeemer is my church and school, but I guess I'll share the church with you and daddy".  Taking her to school in the morning is a joy, she can't wait to get there and I love seeing her so happy when I drop her off.  I cannot say enough about how lucky we are to have been welcomed into the ORLS family.  We are truly blessed."                                           -Parents of a NEW 5K-full day student this year

SCRIP News

Nov. 22nd - NO SCRIP that week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Dec. 20th-27th -NO SCRIP due to the Christmas Break.

Please plan ahead accordingly.  Remember to fill out forms completely and include the phone number where you can be reached.  Orders increase approaching the holiday and we want to serve you well!  Thank you and have a blessed holiday season!

Please Dress Students for the Weather!

When the weather changes and the temperatures drop our students must be prepared to enjoy the out-of-doors.  Our kids look forward to recess time and they will regularly go outside for fresh air and a little exercise whether they attend Child Care or regular classes.  Please be certain that they are DRESSED FOR THE WEATHER!  When the snow flies they must have boots and mittens or gloves at school along with their winter apparel.  Snowpants are required for the snow mounds as well!

Keeping Education Costs Down for Your Family

Just a reminder - If you bring a NEW family to ORLS and they register, attend, and orientate well, YOU can earn $200 toward your own child's educational fees for the second semester of the '11-'12 school year!  Please help us to get the good word out about ORLS.  Increased enrollment helps keep every family's costs down and educational costs can be MORE affordable.

Special thanks to Sandy Mitchell, Marji Dobberfuhl, Sarah Spotts, Sharon Long, Cindy Dries, and Julie Monfre for making our Book Fair a success.
