An Amazing Display of Unity at Advocates Caribbean Conference: Watchmen on the Walls Initiative Launched
 | Conference delegates preparing for reception at Prime Minister's residence. | Dear Friends,
Just over a week ago, over 100 Caribbean lawyers, judges, law students and others, including doctors and pastors, came together in Christi Church, Barbados at the Third Advocates Caribbean Conference. Advocates Caribbean's adopted moto is "Uniting to Impact," and with a foundation based upon much prayer, they have certainly demonstrated a unity that will no doubt have an impact in their region. And with a encouraging number of young attorneys present, an impact that will last.
 |
Ruth Ross (CLF Canada), Hyacinth Griffith and Justice Alice Yorke-Soo Hon (Lawyers for Jesus, Trinidad & Tobago)
| As you will recall, the theme of the conference was Sanctity of Life. What Although the speakers were top quality and the information they shared was nothing short of
excellent, the true highlights of the weekend were the working sessions in which the delegates were able to gather together, first by country fellowships, then in one of the 4 Ws groups to discuss the problems facing them and how they could best utilize their God-given skills to positively impact their communities. The intensity of the discussions and the resulting action was a blessing to be part of.
 | One of the 4W's groups in discussion. | The Watchmen are those advocates, be they attorneys, judges or others, who keep a close eye on all that is happening in their country that might affect the Body of Christ, for good or bad. They are willing to serve as a first line of defense, tracking changes in laws, either judicial rulings or legislation.
The Warners are then alerted by the Watchmen and are those best situated to sound the alarm once the enemy has been sighted. As a second line of defense, these saints will make sure that the next two are alerted to the impending battle: The Wrestlers and the Warriors.
The Wrestlers are the intercessors (Eph. 6:12 and James 5:16) and the Warriors are those advocates who are ready to take the fight to the enemy, engaging in battles that we face.
Throughout the AI network, the battles that are ongoing vary from region to region. In Australia, the Caribbean and Latin America, the current battles include a fight for the right to life and traditional marriage. In Europe, our advocates are facing increasing limitations of religious liberty and a continued struggle for the rule of law. In Asia, Africa and the Middle East, many of our advocates live in countries in which Christians face persecution and often martyrdom, and they are often fighting for the very lives of believers. And AI continues to support all of these advocates.
Please join with us in praying for this new initiative introduced by Advocates Caribbean, and for all of our advocates around the globe who find themselves in daily struggles against the enemy. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and financial support for the work of Advocates. May the Lord bless you with His perfect . . . Grace and peace,
Brent McBurney President & CEO Advocates International

AI & Advocates Caribbean Blessed to Reach Out to Judiciary & Government of Barbados
In addition to the amazing conference, hosted by one of AI's newest fellowship, Advocates Barbados, there were two especially significant meetings in which the Lord used us to bless the host nation of Barbados.
First, before the conference kicked off on Friday evening, we had the joy of meeting with the Chief Justice of Barbados, the Honorable Marston Gibson, and his assistant, and praying with them. |
(L to R) Brent McBurney, President & CEO of AI, Justice Alice Yorke-Soo Hon, Chief Justice Marston Gibson and Justice Maureen Rajnauth-Lee.
| I, along with Justice Alice Yorke Soo-Hon, Justice of Appeal of Trinidad & Tobago, and Justice Maureen Rajnauth-Lee, Judge of the High Court of Trinidad & Tobago spent an amazing 45 minutes together with Chief Justice Gibson, the three judges reminiscing about their days together in law school, and our telling the Chief all about Advocates Caribbean and Advocates International, and our calling as Christian lawyers and judges to do more than just practice law. At the end of our meeting, we were able to pray with the Chief Justice. It was a beautiful time of fellowship and ministry and we pray that what was wrought in the Spirit during that meeting will not return void.
 | Ilaro Court grounds at night. | The second significant event was at the conclusion of our Saturday evening reception at Ilaro Court, Barbados "White House." Because the Prime Minister was out of the country, we were hosted by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, herself a Christian. After an hour of fellowship, I was asked to close our time together in prayer, an honor which I was humbled by. We later learned from the staff at Ilaro Court, that that was the first time any group visiting the Prime Minister's residence had prayed there. We certainly hope that we will not be the last group to do so and ask that you join with us in continuing to pray for Barbados.

Advocates International & Campus Crusade for Christ International to co-host joint conference in Hong Kong in April 2013
Please be sure to Save the Date for this joint conference, "Transforming the World Through Faith & Law," which will be held in Hong Kong in April 2013.
We are already working hard on details related to this conference and will provide more information on speakers, location, registration costs and attendance limitations as they become available. Because of the limited size of this conference, those interested in attending will need to contact their regional boards or the AI headquarters office.

Thank You for Your Financial Support

AI is not a recipient of government funding and is solely dependent upon the financial contributions of those who believe in its mission, thereby enabling it to serve "clients" ranging from heads of state seeking to implement constitutional reforms to persecuted and imprisoned believers sentenced to death for their faith. We are most grateful and thank you for whatever financial support or voluntary service you can provide in support of AI's mission. Here's how you can help: (more)
