Religious Freedom Remains Under Attack
Dear Friends,
Even as the media frenzy in the USA regarding the personal beliefs of the CEO of Chick-Fil-A, an American fast-food restaurant chain, remains in high gear, causing some to argue for boycotts of the restaurants because of "intolerance," Christians around the globe continue to face real-life persecution every day. While we want to encourage you to support Christian owned businesses in the US who are being harassed for simply believing in the Bible, we also want to encourage you to join with us in praying for our advocates around the globe, including here in the USA, who are fighting for religious freedom.
In Nigeria, attacks by radical Muslim extremists from Boko Haram continue unabated, with Church bombings, burnings and carnage on an unprecedented scale. Just in the past few weeks, over 100 people have been killed by armed terrorists, including the horrendous burning of 50 believers who fled to a pastor's house for safety. Read more here.
Our brothers and sisters in CLASFON have set August 3rd as a national day of prayer and fasting for Nigeria. Please join with them this coming Friday to pray for peace in their country.
In Pakistan, the blasphemy laws continue to take a toll on non-Muslims across the country as many who are falsely accused find themselves in never-ending court cases. According to CLAAS, the trial of Khuram Masi, which began on June 12, 2012, was recently adjourned for the 6th time after the complainant failed again to show up for court hearings. Finally the judge scolded the local police and demanded that they and all complainants witnesses be in court for an August 4, 2012 hearing. Please pray for justice for young Mr. Masi, and others who face similar problems with delayed justice. Pray also for a group of Pakistani Christian lawyers who will be protesting forced conversions to Islam and forced marriages.
In India, we have good news to share from the team of CLA India lawyer regarding the conclusion of the anti-conversion law case in Himachal Pradesh. The final hearings were concluded and now we are awaiting the final decision from the High Court. Pramod Singh shared with us that the Government's arguments were not well received by the judges, and that the final arguments for the Christians went well. Please pray for a just decision in this key case that could have impact across all of India.
Pray also for Christians in India who continue to be beaten by mobs of radical Hindu extremists who claim that they are causing "forced conversions" to Christianity. In addition, there are new efforts to introduce new anti-conversion laws in Manipur State. Read more here.
Advocates Egypt continues to train Christian lawyers how to fight for human rights and religious freedom, but with the advent of rule by the Muslim Brotherhood, believers there are very worried about the future. Please continue to keep them all in your prayers, especially with reports of forced conversions of Coptic women. Read more...
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and financial support for the work of Advocates. May the Lord bless you with His perfect . . . Grace and peace,

God is faithful and we offer sincere thanks to Him for being called for a time such as this. Justice Soo Hon, you have left us in no doubt that this is a work, a calling, a ministry and not about personal agendas. Thank you Hyacinth has encouraged and blessed our hearts from the early meeting days and we have come to expect this every time you are with us. Thank you Wendy, (by September you will be swimming in our ocean) thank you for your support and even though not directly in contact with us you came to cover us as we step out in faith. Justice Lee, even though you could not join us, we hold you as being very special to the birthing of Advocates Barbados, as Paulette always reminds us, you met with her in Barbados to encourage her to gather other Attorneys to join in prayer for the ministry. As Advocates Barbados move forward, we ask your continued prayers as we seek to develop according to the vision and mission of Advocates International- representing all the nations who have answered the call. Thank You for Your Financial Support

AI is not a recipient of government funding and is solely dependent upon the financial contributions of those who believe in its mission, thereby enabling it to serve "clients" ranging from heads of state seeking to implement constitutional reforms to persecuted and imprisoned believers sentenced to death for their faith. We are most grateful and thank you for whatever financial support or voluntary service you can provide in support of AI's mission. Here's how you can help: (more)
