Dear Friends,
Thank you again for your regular prayers for all of our Advocates around the globe. Thank you for your particular prayers for the legal team of CLA Advocates in India who are representing the Evangelical Fellowship of India in their case to overturn the anti-conversion law in Himachal Pradesh province.
Here is the latest update from Robin regarding the latest hearing on June 12 and 13:
The hearing commenced on 12 June. Initially certain interveners (opposing the petition) raised objections to the maintainability of the petition. However after hearing the interveners for a short while the judges said that they would like to hear the petitioners. Arguments on behalf of the petitioners went on for two days. The case was heard for about 9 hours. The arguments commenced with assailing the impugned enactments. Lengthy arguments were addressed on this including the fundamental rights of the individual particularly the freedom of religion and conscience including the right to profess, propagate and practice one's religion. Other points urged were the right to privacy. Reference was made to several judicial precedents.
The respondents will commence arguments on 3 July. We are preparing submissions now.
Please pray for the other lawyers working very hard on this case - Pramod Singh, Tehmina Arora and Febin Mathew.
Please continue to lift up the entire team in your prayers as they now prepare their submissions for the next hearing scheduled for July 3. Thanks again for your prayers. May the Lord bless and keep you in His perfect. . .
Grace and Peace,
 Brent McBurney
