Martha Bibi's blasphemy hearing to be held on 17 March; sentencing expected to be handed down

Dear Friends,

Our friend and brother, Advocate Ezra Shujat, the president of Advocates Pakistan, is representing Martha Bibi in her blasphemy trial and has asked for your prayers for this final hearing that is scheduled for this Saturday, 17 March.

As you may recall, Martha has been charged under Pakistan's blasphemy law, yet the prosecution's key witness has not shown up for several hearings.  Please continue to pray for a miracle in this case, as we don't want to see Martha Bibi join Aasia Bibi in being given a death penalty.

The following request was sent out through Advocates Asia's Prayer network:

Please pray fervently as the Spirit leads for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan who are facing the "hanging sword" of the blasphemy laws in that nation. Pray especially for Martha Bibi as her hearing comes up on 17 March 2012 that though she walks through the valley of the shadow of death, she will fear no evil because God is with her (Psalm 23: 4). Declare that the times of these believers facing blasphemy charges are in God's hands and he is in full control of every situation and their lives. Claim that all things will work together for the good of those who love Him and who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). Pray for God's wisdom for the different NGOs whom God is using  to make a difference to Pakistani believers: CLAAS, LEAD and Advocates Pakistan. May God's spirit of unity be among believers to be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and in purpose (Phil. 2:2).

May the Lord bless you with His perfect . . .

Grace and peace,

We greatly appreciate your prayers for our efforts this year which will include a focus on the persecuted church in Iran and the situation surrounding condemned Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, among other pressing issues concerning the persecuted church.

Please also pray for safe travels for all of those who will be attending the RLP Consultation.

Thank You for Your Financial Support

AI is not a recipient of government funding and is solely dependent upon the financial contributions of those who believe in its mission, thereby enabling it to serve "clients" ranging from heads of state seeking to implement constitutional reforms to persecuted and imprisoned believers sentenced to death for their faith. We are most grateful and thank you for whatever financial support or voluntary service you can provide in support of AI's mission. Here's how you can help: (more)
