How to Fine Tune Your Lymphatic System
The lymphatic system is an elaborate combination of vessels, capillaries, nodes and fluid (called lymph) that works closely with the circulatory system to flush excess fluid, dead blood cells and toxins from tissue thus keeping you healthy. It is like the best school janitor keeping the halls clean and tidy even though there are children constantly messing them up! If this system does not function well you may feel puffy and sluggish (among other silently brewing issues).
The lymphatic system does not have it's own pump. It depends on us to move our bodies and avoid excessive acidic foods and drinks; like wine, cheese, baked goods and sugar. Yoga is a great exercise that causes a 'squeezing' contraction of the muscles and vessels; lifting weights, climbing stairs, bouncing on a trampoline are a few more.
If you are tired, sluggish, feet swell, can't get your rings off sometimes and are a frequent wine and cheese consumer.....now you know what may be happening and how to fix it! |
